suspension guru's i need you input

i know this has been covered a lot, but i'm too lazy to search and read =P go ahead, bash on me lol

anyways, i got some sprint springs from pobi, drops 2" he said, so i'm thinking there's no way in hell i'm riding these on stock struts, so i go around lookin on racing solution, tirerack.com, and nopi and some other stores..

most kyb struts run for 250-280
most tokico blues run for about 320-360

    my question

anyone that has kyb, can you give me your input on how these ride, and is it really necessary for adjustable struts, same for tokico people, can you tell me how they feel?

everyone has been telling me to get tokico blue's, they're more worth it, they last longer, blah blah blah, is the extra 80ish buck worth it? i'm only gonna be keeping the rolla for about another year or two, then i'm off to college

also, if anyone knows where they can get either kyb or tokico blues for cheap, lemme know, i can't wait to put these springs on

i live in san francisco, and if most of you know san francisco, the rides are harsher than a roller coaster, up and down and all around, but i also do a bit of highway commute, about 3/4 of my weeks trip are on the highway..and i'm gonna be going for some 15" or 16" rims after the drop

oh yea, this is daily driver from monday to sunday =D from home to school to work to home..oh yeah, i love my life haha

I have sprint springs and tokico struts, and its pretty harsh. I gotta rethink which roads imma drive on, and I used to bottom out alot but fixed the problem. If u would have waited a month I was gonna sell my sprint springs for about $30 + shippin. If u ride on the high way alot u will love the ride cuz its smooth, but once u run into rough streets u will get a shock.

P.S. I am runnin on 17's, i dont know what u would be riding on. If stock wheels should be a smoother ride.

I got Tokico/Eibach-Sportlines/205-40-16 on Kumho ECSTA in my '93 DX. I'm also a daily driver & I got no complain on my ride so far. Just avoid those annoying speed bumps & deeps .

They are rougher than stock pretty much all around, I would describe it more like feeling the road than anything. The nice thing about them is that they rebound quite well so your tires seem to maintain contact with the pavement when you go over rough road surfaces in general.

I have Tokicos with Ground Controls and I would agree that the ride can be a bit harsh, but I prefer how the car handles and corners and how it goes over the bumps so much that I could care less about having a softer ride. I have heard that the KYBs do offer a softer ride, but at the possible sacrifice of quality and handling. In general I trust Tokico more than KYB as I just feel they offer better quality product overall, but I am sure there are others who would argue the other way around. In my opinion if you get an OK product for $200 and you can get a top quality one for $300, you go with the top of the line every time. It always works out better in the long run. Again, just my opinion.

are tokico's rough on city streets that aren't smooth, but not too rocky, just a bit bumpy..or are they only rough on speed bumps and pot holes

I live in SF and am running eibach pro kit and tokico blues and have 16" rims on my 01 corolla. You'll feel the little cracks and bumps on SF streets, but the car handles pretty well in my opinion. So if you're just cruisin and not really cornering hard or just driving hard, KYB should be a bit smoother

i had Eibach Pro-Kits and Tokicos on my 323. A good friend has Pro-Kits and KYBs on his CRX. I prefer Tokicos, he prefers KYBs. Roughly the same, but I give the nod to Tokicos over KYBs.

The ride on my TEIN/KYB-GR2 combo is kinda stiff but not that bad, really helps the handling.
