    Suggestion on Paint Color

I'll be painting my car over this weekend and will like some suggestions on the paint color. I live in southern Cali, so lots of sun. I have some choices for color of my own, one is a dark blue like RollaRyder have, a cream color and then a metallic dark gray I saw on a mustang.

My car is a stock corolla 99 with beige interior. RIght now I have super white but is hard to keep clean plus I have this little dots all over the car from I guess acid rain.

I got to do a little body work here and there. will remove the altezzas and come back to stock tailights. I have those m3 mirrors too, should I paint those. Will I need to use a different paint than the one for the car.

This is the second car me and my dad paint. The first was his truck and came off pretty good.

    Will appreciated any inputs.

Have you considered Blood red/candy apple red?
I just saw a M3 and a IS300 in that color and it looked really good

Silver is always good. When in the sun and its clean, it shines like a glass. It blends well with scratches (if you have any). Plus sun reflects off of it so it doesn't fade as much as other colors.

The cream color you seen in luxury cars, I kind like the color actually haven't seen it in a corolla maybe on a lexus. I think is called Crystal white for the lexus.

I order a custom wood steering wheel cover, my interior is that tan color so I might just steer into a luxury look and also get a burwood dash kit and maybe get my seats custom cover in vinyl but that will be later.

My car is pretty stock right now. Still need some rims.

Have anyone heard about using the clear instead of the primer, I heard some shops use that as a short cut. It supose to hide the imperfections. I don't know about the long term results.

What my dad did with his truck was do the bodywork, sand a little and use some kind a chemical that removes the oils and impurities from the paint and then after that he just paint it the truck. Came out pretty good.

Cream color is nice but like you say hard to keep clean plus that's a three stage paint, more work for me to paint.

I went for a dark blue, will take the masking from inside tomorrow and finish painting the outside.

Anyone knows how to apply the clear, I need to know if I only need to mix with the hardener and can I add reducer to it. Also was the mixing ratio for the clear and hardener. Need this info by tomorrow.

Will post the finish pics tomorrow or wednesday

jajaja: Nope No spray can. Everything was good until I put the clear coat, maybe it was cause I use little clear coat, only a quart for the whole car mixed with hardener. I read a little more on this orange peel and it says it can be cause by the clear coat, wrong mixing, drying time and other things. As I read more I saw they is a thing you add to the clear coat tp prevent orange peel effect. I will wait a month and maybe wet sandded with 600 grit and do a polish, see I if I see an improvement. The inside of the car is good since I didn't use clear.
I will buy a gallon of clear coat which is what the paint supply store said I need to clear coat a whole car.

Also how long you I wait to wash the car?? since I painted this past sunday

If anyone has more ideas or suggestions please reply or PM.

    thanks

Here is morning pic, car is a little dusty

600 grit is going to destroy the paint..... i think its a 1200 or 1500 grit that you use to wet sand, its been awhile since i worked at the body shop

Sounds good turbo4age, so a 1500 grit should do right, how about washing my car, should I wait a month, the car was painted 4 days ago.

You use to work at a body shop so maybe you can help me a little to correct this orange peel thing and how to correctly put the clear coat,(eg mixng ratio, what to add)

BTW the color I painted the car is Eternal Blue Pearl, I like it. Just need some rims and I will be happy.
