Yeah, I am quite sure it will be a 2 door coupe/convertible with a V8 or a high revving and high powered V6 that will put out more than 350 HP or posssibly 400 HP and will directly compete with the M3.

The IS430 was created by Rod Millen (Professional Racer) as a special car for the SEMA show. It never got into production. Although, the IS350 is very close to the IS430 in performance numbers (wish they offered a 6 speed manual on the 350 instead of only 6 speed SS auto), but it is a V6 instead of a V8. Although, the 4th model must be something really big with a monster V8 and very powerful.

    Official Lexus Canada press release:

    ============================================

2006 LEXUS IS SPORT SEDANS: EXCITING NEW CHOICES IN ENTRY LUXURY
Dramatic new package is second production Lexus developed under L-Finesse

(TORONTO) – Lexus revealed today at the New York Auto Show the all-new 2006 IS 350 luxury sport sedan. With its striking new L-Finesse design, exceptional new power and performance, and all-wheel drive (AWD) availability, Lexus expects the all-new 2006 IS sport sedans to capture the hearts and minds of a new generation of enthusiastic drivers.

To command attention in the extremely competitive entry luxury segment, the new IS offers an expanded model range and outstanding performance and safety features:
    · Choice of three models: IS 250 rear-wheel drive (RWD), IS 250 AWD, and IS 350 RWD.
    · Choice of new six-speed manual transmission (IS 250 RWD) or new six-speed automatic
(IS 250 AWD and IS 350 RWD) with driver-controllable sequential shift mode.
    · For the IS 250, an all-new, dual VVT-i 2.5-litre V6 engine, delivering more than 200 horsepower.
    · For the top-line IS 350, a newly designed, dual VVT-i 3.5 litre V6 engine, with more than 300 horsepower, resulting in 0-60 mi/h acceleration in less than six seconds.
    · Advanced Lexus Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) on all models, plus Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system on the IS 350.
    · All-new front and rear suspension, steering and brake systems.

“The new Lexus IS is designed to be much more than a great looking car,†said Stuart Payne, Director responsible for Lexus in Canada. “The contemporary and dynamic design is intended to make the new IS one of the best-handling sport sedans in its segment, by delivering a spirited yet sophisticated and well-balanced driving experience for youthful car enthusiasts.â€

Outside, the IS has a sporty, streamlined styling, with sweeping lines and details that reference the recent Lexus LF series of concept vehicles. A wide stance and long wheelbase, together with tightly-drawn bodywork, lends a muscular and dynamic style.

Inside, the IS is designed with a seamless, vibrant flow to create a roomy atmosphere of clean, uncluttered luxury. The sporty cabin is complemented by intelligently designed displays and intuitive controls to make driving both simple and pleasurable. Bright, clear Optitron gauges and smartly integrated metallic and available maple trim help create a luxurious, yet functional ambience.

Comfort and luxury features expected to be available on the new 2006 Lexus IS include Smart Access keyless entry with push-button start, adaptive front lighting, navigation system with back-up camera and ventilated front seats.

An important contributor to performance, fuel efficiency and stability lies in the new IS’ aerodynamic package. Low exterior drag is enhanced with careful attention to underbody airflow management designed to minimize and balance front/rear lift. The low drag body makes best use of engine power, and the low lift enhances high-speed stability and handling balance.

The new 2006 Lexus IS sport sedans will be available in Canada this fall, and pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale date.

Im just wondering why they call the GS GS450H. I know H probably stands for Hybrid. In most cases, the number stands for its displacement, so it should be 350 in this case. Does that mean there is a 1.0L Hybrid motor in there to make it a 450??

Nah the new IS will be 180 lbs heavier than the current generation (which is around 3300 lbs). So that is some serious power for a 3500 lbs car.

Well, I take it the IS350 will be using the new Avalon engine (2GR-FE). But the bad part will be if no manual tranny is offered. I wouldn't be surprised if Lexus offers an auto tranny only in the first year and then brings out the manual tranny afterwards. They did the same with the IS300.

Dude what are you talking about?? GS sales in it's first month alone have gone up by 6-7% (the lexus press conference today) and customers are being wait listed. As far as I remember when I saw the black GS 430 at the auto show, it was swamped by people checking it out. If you did not like the car, does not mean that is not a great looking car. Car and driver magazine conducted a survey and 60% of the people voted said the Lexus IS was the biggest highlight of the Geneva show while 40% said the BMW 3 series was. I have heard people raving about it with the exception of a few people who are disappointed.

No, it is a 3.5L V6 that will have an electric motor to put out more than 300 HP (same idea as the RX400h). No V8.

I would not even bother to respond to your rude and arrogant behavior especially after you did not even care to look around a bit. I am right anyways. (See below)

Transcript of Lexus GS450H unveil in New York:

The GS 450h will be powered in a BIG way by an all-new 3.5-liter V6 gas-electric hybrid system. This potent new powertrain will generate peak output that will be substantially, substantially higher than the 300 horsepower provided by the V8-powered GS 430, with sufficient thrust to launch from zero-to-sixty in well under six seconds.

Even more impressive is how quickly and powerfully torque is delivered during mid-range acceleration. The system's massive electric motor is capable of delivering maximum torque, immediately upon demand. This unique power delivery characteristic is most noticeable and most useful during 30-to-50 passing and merging maneuvers. It's an experience that must be felt to be fully appreciated.

The 450h will not only carry one of the industry's best emissions rating, it will deliver combined fuel efficiency in the high-twenties.

To put all this into perspective, the 3.5-liter V6 gas-electric hybrid system will provide a level of acceleration performance similar to a 4.5-liter V8, with a level of fuel efficiency similar to a two-liter, four-cylinder compact sedan.

The GS 450h will immediately establish a new criteria for the capabilities and image of hybrid technology, while redefining what a high-performance luxury sedan is all about.

Equally important, the GS hybrid will fully embrace the traditional Lexus values of uncompromising luxury, impeccable refinement, unmatched quality and extraordinary ride comfort.

But perhaps most importanT is how the new GS 450h, as a total package, will be a car with no peer.

Some might be faster, a few more powerful. None, however will be capable of matching its amazing combination of power, performance and environmental efficiency.

It is the dawn of a new era among performance luxury sedans. And the GS 450h will lead the way.

Over the last two years, a new styling philosophy - that we call L-Finesse - has taken shape at Lexus Design. What has emerged from this two-year journey is not just a new direction in philosophy, but a new design language, based on dynamism, · elegance and simplicity.

Simplicity in form and function. It is styling that is uncluttered and void of extraneous elements,

Elegance inside and out. The clear focus is to avoid exaggeration and to prioritize understated luxury.

The new GS marked the first practical application of the L-Finesse design language. The all-new Lexus IS performance sedan will be the second.

This sh!t is really weird. They are calling a 3.5L 450. I just cant get use to this. Cuz most of the time when you look at a car on the street and you will know whats under the hood. (like 525i, that's the base model 5-series pos compare to 540i. This is just an example)

thats great. are you a toyota salesman? you really should be, you own an XRS, and talk very fondly of toyota at any opportunity, and do extensive amounts of research concerning your material.

I, on the other hand, study computer engineering at uah and have seen the GS only once at the dealership and have seen the IS only on this forum; thus making my opinion simply a reflection of myself and peers in my school. I am not trying to be academic about these cars. ;)
