They are meant for people with different priorities. XRS is for people who would a take fun car with lesser speed, but a lot more gas mileage, incomparable resale, better reliability and quality whereas, Mustang is for people who look for sheer speed and muscle.

i thought i was good marketing on toyotas part. having the "girl" get that car. I doubt 10% of the xrs sold are going to be to females. i think there hopeing to lure more women buyers. kind of dumb commercial though

I saw two of them. One with the guy who comes out of the office and see's a white XRS and the other one with the roller coaster theme. They were nice, but did not capture the excitement at all. If you look at the RSX Type S commercial and it is shown revving at 8000 rpm while taking corners and quick shifting with the 6 speed manual tranny, that gets the adrenaline rush.

I love the Mustangs in 'Bullitt' and the Shelby Cobra in 'Gone in 60 seconds'. Even though they were filmed to look very good in the movie, but they were still pretty darn impressive.

I thought the redline on a V6 Pussythang was only 6500 RPM? That is not high to me. S2000 9K red line is high. I have been in one of those gay V6's before and couldn't stop laughing as the guy driving thought he was the man racing everything he saw and I just watched him lose to a Neon, a Caviler and a Focus all in one night.

The redline for Mazda RX8 is 9000 RPM as well. It has lift at 6000 RPM like Toyotas and Hondas.

that shelby, unfortunately, never existed in real life...but it was a DAMNED good replica.

there's a company who's making them now...if you can afford to fork over the money. hit up http://www.uniqueperformance.com/ for more info on those gorgeous cars.

I am quite sure Shelby used to exist, but only in Europe. It was not sold in NA. Although, I might have to double check on that. I really like the looks of the next generation Mustang with a retro-look of the 60s Mustang.

that's assuming that a lot of brainpower went into the commercial. i honestly think they were trying to just make the XRS seem fun.

although there's no way in hell it's more fun than a Stang ;)

besides...the XRS was made for the fickle youth market. leave the true power and heritage to the Stang lovers, who know their cars better than their own families in some cases.

I'd take an XRS over any six-banger Mustang, and all the four-banger Stangs other than the SVO.

V8's are fun, but a stock Corolla is more fun to drive than a bloated, 4000lb underpowered, V6 Mustythang. I am sure the new XRS is a blast to drive compared with one of those pieces of unreliable, 8sec 0-60 pieces of dookie. If you are going to buy a Mustang, get one with all of the cylinders then you can think about having fun.

Well i have driven 6 cyl 5 speed mustangs, aka. pusstangs. There not overly fast. But any car with a redline that is that high. Those are fun.

Toyota Official 0-60 acceleration: under 8.0 secs ( Toyota always underrates the acceleration)

    Magazine tests ( 0-60:( 7.0 secs

I agree completely. I also don't consider any automatic mustang a true mustang.

heh...they still are. they're what started the legacy.

i just wish that ford hadn't ruined it with the 4-cyl stangs that existed...those made me sick.

Yeah true, I know. 4 Cylinder for a Mustang sounds too inadequate.

    saw the one with hector..

I'm surprised she was smart enough to even drive a manual.. And the way she took that driveway out of the shop, no wonder they made it that high off the ground
