    Brembo Cross Drilled

I got them off supershy guy, and it seemed like mach made in heave, they really gave me some good breaking for about 6 months, then i started having problems....

today i blew 345 bucks on new brakes, the whole deal, new rotors drums, pads and shoes. why? cause the brembo bakes had uneven metal density, the front was soft and in 1 year time the semi mettalic pads i got from nopi shaved about 1.5 mm of the front rotor surface the pads them selves almost untouched!!! the back of the rotor had i inch round area of hard steel that shaved the pad down to almost nothing and both edges of the rotor were spoft and got shaved by the pad so the back of the rotor looked like half rounded bloated surface... I am dissapointed since i blew $180 bucks on the rotors alone and another 30 for the pads... now i got OEM rotors highest quality made possible and new semi metallic AC Delco pads that are suppose to be good...

I will post pictures later when i get the rotors and pads from the trunk... I am royally pissed cause I went in for pad replacment and ended up with whole new brakes and big hole in my pocket...

The drums had to be done cause they were wearing thin and they been resurfaced twice before... that's not good so i had new ones put in... 55 bucks a piece and 20 for semi mettalic shoes with atleast 65000 mile guarantee :)

I still donno what to do about the rotors I feel ripped off big time.

well, the rotors were fine...it's the pads you bought. word to the wise: DON'T GET SEMIMETALLIC! they help your braking wonderfully, till they chew the hell out of your rotors. i can understand your frustration, but this is something that's been said time and time again to avoid. even toyota has a sign up saying semimetallic pads will eat through rotors in their parts dept.

nonono you don't undersand the problem is not the pad, because the back pad were gone beyond the little divider line that's suppose to indicate that's its time for new ones... fronts pads almost un touched, back grinded to the core, rear rotor surface, hard uneven middle and deeply cut edges by the pads... tommorow i'll post pics, you'll understand, its like the front and back surface of the rotor were diff metals

Hey Nocpan, maybe your caliper rusted and couldn't slide so it was only
pushing pad from piston side which is on the back of rotor.
I had the same problem with my previous car. Pad on the outside was
like new and pad on the inside was gone to the metal.
I would check if your caliper can slide from side to side.
I recently upgraded my front brakes with POWER SLOT slotted rotors
and HAWK PERFORMANCE HPS pads. So far so good, can't complain.
Reason I changed them was that when I was braking my brake pedal
and steering wheel was shaking like crazy. So I found out that one
    of the rotors wobble.
And that how it looks now.

OEM toyota brake pads are really good...i have used 5 diff ones and both my dad and i agree Toyota is the best...it lasts the longest, almost 4 times longer than other ones i've used...i tried durastop, raybestos, and some other crap..Toyota has proven to be the best. As far as the rotor goes, i dun think it should be the rotor's problem, alot of people use Brembo's and i havent heard any problems from them, the only way i think that could happen to your car is that you did not install them the right way....there is a certain way you need to install them as far as the direction they will spin...so maybe there was a problem?

I got mine from my buddy at my local speed shop at his cost but you can buy
them also at TIRE RACK or you can go to POWERSLOT to locate their nearest dealer.
Also you find them at Racing Solution and I think that the best offer $150 set

Hey thanks, yup 150 is the cheapest price out there.. too bad they dont sell pads. I'm looking at tirerack right now and its between the Hawk Street or HP Plus. Do you have any idea how long the HP Plus usually lasts?

I got the HPS, they are for normal driving. Can't tell yet how long they will lasts, got them three weeks ago. The HP Plus is for more aggressive driving so I will guess they don't lasts that long.

That what they saying about them at Tire Rack:

All depends of your driving style. Both are good but looks like HPS will lasts longer then HP Plus.

And Nocpan sorry for jacking your thread.
About your brakes did you check if your caliper "floats" - see photo

ac rolla, i thought the rotors were supposed to go the other way. as in, the slot facing/pointing forward...does that make sense?

HAHA! man, havent we been through this like a long time ago? rotor direction DOES NOT matter if the VANES (the things in the inside of the rotor) are pointing straight, like in AC rolla's pic of the caliper... brembo's come like that... and some rotors HAVE directional vanes, but it depends... i have toyota OEM pads and they ARE semimetallic, but their quality is superb...when i first installed the new rotors and pads, there was a horrible clanking sound everytime i cruised at a low speed- i believe this is normal b/c of the new pads edges scraping against the slots, but its gone now...at first, it did the cool space ship sound when braking hard, but it kinda went away.. :(

    here are the pads

rotor vanes- notice how they are straight, therefore, it direction doestn matter

ahh ok thanks for clearing that up. i thought it had to do with the outer slots. not the inner veins.

Sounds like there was an error in installation, not the rotors being bad.
