    Replacing the stock radio antenna...

So my stock antenna was broken when I bought my car and I just recently got around to trying to fix it.

So I bought an antenna and am now half way through the install, except I can't figure out an easy way to get the new antenna's wire down through the driver's side A pillar to underneath the dash/instrument cluster area where I can connect it to anothe wire that goes to the radio.

Anyone ever done this before? Thanks.

My antenna had fallen victim to an automatic car wash before I got the car. My aunt had bought a new antenna from the dealer but had never gotten it installed. That was the first order of business when I bought the car.

Anyway, is the plastic of the broken antenna still intact? If so, here's how you do it... take the broken antenna and feed it up through the driver's side kick panel (obviously you have to remove the panel and the spongy foam in behind it). Once it gets up to the hole in the pillar where the new antenna will be fed in, pull it out enough to tape the end of the new antenna to the end of the old one. Then, use the old antenna to guide the new one down into the pillar. Voila!

Of course, fishtape or just regular solid wire should work just fine.

Yeah maybe I made 2 threads about this or something, but I finally figured this out and I thought I posted it, but maybe I didn't. I tried to do what you described, but I thought the wire from the antenna went all the way to the radio. Apparently it does not and there is an extension cord that connects to the antenna's wire at the base of the A pillar. I had to take apart the dash to figure this out, but the extrension cord then goes above the driver side vent and above the instrument cluster to wind up plugging into the back of the radio.

So instead of threading the antenna's cord from the A pillar down into the car, I drilled a hole in the steel of the A pillar and brought the cord inside the car that way. I then used caulk to seal up the hole around the wire. Everything fits behind the interior panels ok and I haven't had any problems with mosture yet, so I think everything is cool. Thanks a lot for the reply though.
