I met some guys at a hangout who had a 4-door Tercel with a Toyota Starlet engine, boosted, hitting about 289HP to the wheels. Or so he said. Total sleeper.

    Thinking of a paseo

I was thinking of getting a paseo... yeah the name sucks but the potential is there. Anyone know about swaps and such?

don't get one. paseo = tercel.
the engine is no good. they are known to burn oil after reaching certain mileage. my nephew's 98 or 99 tercel started to use oil and he sold it.

meh, paseo/tercel can make pretty good rally cars.

as for an echo supercharger, haven't heard about this. there is a TRD turbo kit in japan for the 1NZ though, and apparently TRD USA was testing it here sometime last year.

I saw a used car ad with a paseo 4wd

But it didn't say anything about the engine
but if there was a 4wd paseo,
    probably means engine swap.
but 4wd swap = good potential

I wanted one of these, as well as the Civic Del Sol, ages ago when they were first around. I don't think I'd want one now, especially now that I know a little more about cars.

Thank you for elaborating on that. I really don't know the potential of a Starlet engine and I was surprised to hear how much power he was making out of it.

Well, seeing as how Toyota killed the Celica and MR2 because of low sales, I won't be surprised if they kill the Echo as well.

its like 1.3L but wit some custom work they can push out 3sgte style hp. Iron block is sexy

also some JDM traanies have LSD so look out for those. Tercelonline.com

go for the paseo! My buddy has a paseo and has the starlet engine on order! The starlet engine swap has lots of potential! How ever if you need any replacement parts for the starlet engine they will probably be a little hard to find. and 1 other reason I love the paseo is for the xracing body kit! check out this paseo! I love the body kit! http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/610892

    er

starlet motors get 56 horses at the flywheel. there's *not* a lot of potential there...trust me. not to mention the starlet body weighs about half that of a paseo.

    First off I wouldn't do a 4efte swap. I'd go for a 4agze or better.
Secondly I don't care if its close relation to the tercel. I don't mind a smaller car.
Third, it's something different and as was said it'd be a good track car.

Let's not start any rumors. Bad enough toyota is killing off 2 new lines.

Perhaps toyota will become Scion in 10 years? (j/k, another bad rumor)

i dont think so...ELP did about 3 swaps and wit some minor tuning u can push 250whp. All for under 8k. Coupe Tercels dont look that bad...

it's not 56....the starlets that had 4efe and 5efe were pushing btwn 84 and 92 horses. not too sure about the rwd K-series though, i couldn't figure out exactly which k-series they used, but those did have some that were down in the 50's.
