'03+ Corolla owners with Tien S techs

I have read through a handful of threads but I would like to have a definative count on how many have S-techs on '03+ Corollas. The question I have is how many of you required a camber kit after installing the S-techs. The springs are on their way and I want to know if I should definately go ahead and order a camber kit or not. As a technician, I will be doing the work myself, but I don't want to waste my time by aligning the car twice. Please reply only if you have an '03+ with Tien S techs. Thanks.

Did the springs come with instructions for cutting the bumpstops???
I talked to someone today that told me that he did not cut the bumpstops at all and it seems to be driving just fine. But he also didn't even check his alignment so I am not too sure about this guy. Thanks for your response.

I didn't install them, so I couldn't tell you for sure. The instructions evidently came with a guide as to which cars needed their bumpstops cut, but I guess the mechanic didn't return that guide to me. There's a DIY on 2k3Corolla for installing Progress springs, and it recommends to cut the bumpstops for those springs.

cool. Thanks again. Oh, btw, where did you get the altis grill from?? I feel so lost. I have been into german cars for so long, I know how and where to get everything for them but know nothing about Toyotas and their aftermarket. What I like about this new Corolla is that all the mods I have seen so far have been tasteful. The car reminds me more of a german car than an asian car, from that standpoint at least. The biggest drawback to the new Corolla I think is the seats. IMO they suck. But the rest of the interior seems of decent quality. The shifter feels good, the clutch is nice. We also have a 2002 Civic and that car is a huge POS in comparison. The two cars cost the same but there is no comparison in terms of quality. Honda is really slipping with the new Civic ('02+)

For the first time my wife has shown interest in modifying her car, so I am really excited about hooking it up. Now it is just a matter of finding the parts. I wanted to do the JDM headlights and upgrade to HID but I was told that the OEM headlamps are better to use with HID. For some reason the JDM's scatter the light differently?? Have you experienced that with yours??

s tech are springs made by tein. they lower your car about 2 inches and stiffens the ride.

I have tein s tech springs, I installed them myself, the do give directions for cutting the bumpstops, And you HAVE to do it..I didn't at first and it rode like shit. I didn't have to get a camber kit, but you HAVE to get an alignment after the springs settle, or you'll be going through tires every 6 months lke I did.

ive got s.techs on my 03 and i love them, even though i cut the back so it sat level with the front. Looks cherry now. Still rides good too, nice and firm. Im planning to get tein ss next, but i need to save up money for that shit.

ive had stechs for almost a year now and everything is fine. no camber kit or anything..i did cut the bumpstops like everyone recommended as ive heard people having problems when they didnt cut um. for the 03 corolla, they actually advertise a 2.4/2.3 drop which settles to slightly more.

TRD springs..i doubt you'd need to since the drop on TRD is always minimal

Yeah I'm thinking of getting S Techs for my car. It's an 03 on 18's..my only concern is whether the drop is gonna settle too low? I have like a 3" gap right now and I wanted it to settle to about a 1" gap after settling with springs cuz I'm concerned about rubbing. Am I gonna need a camber kit? And what are bumpstops?

I have an 03 with 18's and S-tech springs. It' won't settle too low.....you'll still have room to go down actually, but it does look really good. I'd say it's probably like an inch gap now. I didn't need a camber kit, but you HAVE to get it aligned shortly afterwards (after the springs settle), or it'll eat up you tires. Bump stops are these little ruber things on the strut......they give a chart telling where to cut them at....I just cut them in half.....and it rides awesome. Any shop you take it too will know what bump stops are.
