    Mod TRD lip kit...

I like the look of the trd kit on my car(02 rolla), i beleive im the only one in my city with an 02 that has mods... I want to customize the kit, maybe complete the enter front lip instead of it being 2 pieces with the gap, and maybe molding the the front lip to the bumper and the rear lips to the body. I know the kit is abs, and ive read a couple of post where people who said that abs isnt easy to modify, can anyone confirm this? Also if I did get the kit molded to the body, wouldnt it crack at the seems eventually? All of this was just a thought, and im sure its not the firt time...

Well you'd basically just be molding a middle section to the front bumper and to the trd pieces so dont worry about ABS being difficult to modify.

If the body shop does a good job on the mold, you should never have to worry about it cracking unless a lot of pressure is applied to it (i.e. an accident).

The front bumper is actually made with polypropylene and the trd kit polyurethane.. abs plastic is what the hard interior pieces like the center console is made of.

molding together using fiberglass reinforced epoxy or body filler (what most bodyshops use) is possible but you run the risk of cracking it if something hits it. There is however a plastic welding technique or plastic epoxy filler one could use.. but working with plastics is always a bitch imo.

you'd probably be better off having the shop make duplications of the TRD pcs in fiberglass and add the middle section to that, so you'd end up with one entire lip made of fiberglass.. but that's more custom work.. more $$$
