A few questions about seats:

1) If I buy new seats, how do I use my seat belt? I have a 2000 Corolla and the female end of the belt is attached to the seat. If I buy some new seats will I be able to attach the female end to the new seat or am I going to have to mount it to the floor of the car or something?

2) I was looking at buying some Sparco Sienas however no place I know has any for me to sit it. Can any one tell me if they have had the chance to sit in these and if so what they think of them? I have sat in Torinos and wasn't all that crazy about them due to the lack of thigh support, but the Sienas look like they have a lot more.

3) I realy like the Sparco Evo 2 seats but they are not adjustable. Does any body have a fixed seat in their car and if so, do they drive you crazy? Also, the same question about the seat belt applies here as a) I have found that in my state it is illegal to disable or not use the stock seatbelts while driving on public roads and b) people need to be able to sit in my rear seat so mounting a harness to the rear passanger seat belt bolts is not an option and I have no desire to install a roll cage.

I dont want to spend more than $1200 for seats and I dont want anything cheap but if anybody else has any seat suggestions it would be appreciated.

for what you're describing, it seems your best bet would be to get an OEM swap...celica seats use the same seat belts(although it's easier just to swap out the celica female buckle for your stock one, they attach in the same way), and you'd have to either change the mounting points on the floor or get the sliders from your current seats welded onto the celica brackets.

it's also inexpensive...Vamp got his from www.car-part.com for like $300 for the pair.

i have Momo Starts.. they're fixed seats. very comfortable, but it makes me want harnesses cuz they sit pretty upright.

yeah...that's partially why i opted for the celica ones...they're comfy, and adjustable.

I had considered getting the Celica seats as just about any junkyard round here has a few in great condition. I am a little obsessed with having either Sparco or Momo seats in my car though so I have kinda put that on the maybe list.

Civic Eater- Are you using your stock seatbelt now? How did you get it to work?

it's fine just buying just a drivers seat (JDM STYLE YO) - I should've spent more on driver seat instead of getting a pair, one of my friend's is *ahem* too wide to sit in the bucket seats so he has to sit in the back.. anyways you remove the seatbelt's female end from your stock seat and attach it to a seat belt bracket - which is welded to your car specific seat bracket
- the car specific brcket attach the universal seat rails of your seat to the floor board's stock seat bolt in location.

In addition I have a set of 100% street legal Schroth ASM 4PT harnesses

No one makes brackets for a 2000 Corolla so I am going to have a shop do them. I guess I need to make sure they mount the seat belt bracket to the base then I guess. Thanks for the info. Where do you have your harnesses attached to the car?

Civic Eater- I am 6'6" and already have a fun time getting in and out of my car. Do you have any real problems getting in and out of your car with the extra thigh bolster?

I believe 93-02 use the same seat brackets.. I think Herbrock used Corbeau brackets.. But Corbeau contracted WEDGE engineering from so cal to make them.

I have 4 pt harness they are attached to:
front stock seatbelt bolt on location (floor board and seat brackets)
rear stock seatbelt location under rear seats

They are attached along side with the stock seatbelts and you can utalize these locations up to pro racing.

Yeah, I was thinking about the harness bar too but I am pretty sure the Sparco one wont work because, where the bolts for the support bars attach to the Civic, doesn't match up with anything in the Rolla and the fact that it is illegal to use harnesses on public roads in MN so I would still need to find a way to use my stock seat belt. Those brackets are pretty cheap though, about the same price as the ones from Sparco for the Civic and about the same price that I can have them made for. Thanks for the links though and let me know if you find out any more about the harness bar. I can have one made for $500 but I have so sign a waiver that, if it fails in a crash, I won't sue them which made me a lil uncomfortable to say the least, and $500 so I can use my $100 harnesses illegally seems a lil ridiculous.

Building your own brackets is not really that hard. To reinstall my female seat belt piece i drilled two holes and put two bolts through a exposed metal piece on my racings seats. Works good and they arnt coming out no matter what.

apples to oranges.. again, i have a scion with probably 6" more headroom than your corolla.

Yea i been having some seats for a while, but havent put them in because a) needed custom brackets and b) dident know what to do about the seat belt problem without sacrificing the rear seats.

but of course they dont make one for our cars so i was guessing i would measure the inside of a civic and see if it would fit in my car.

Well i live in New Orleans and you can pretty much get away with anything... even if you get a ticket you can find somebody to take care of it for ya for like 50 bucks or less. Most cops here dont care about that stuff unless they are being real assholes or you do a moving violation like run a red light, stop sign, speeding etc.

Well I finally bought some seats yesterday, Sparco Siena's, and I found a shop that will make some brackets for them for $150 a side including sliders. I will still be able to use the stock seat belt as they told me they can just mount the stock bracket to the new base no problem so everything is set and I will put them in next week! Thanks everyone for your help and your feed back!

if anyone is interested, i can get deals on corbeau seats.. i just put a pair of corbeau cr1's in my car, corbeau makes rails as well.. you bolt the seatbelt to a premade section on the rail...the rails are only $60 each btw, and feature sliders with more than stock travel

Do you know if the rails that Corbeau makes will work with the Sparco seats I just bought? I could save myself a little green if they would work...lemme know...

or you could just not waste the money and build your own as i said before...

But if you must buy them, if the rails dont fit those seats all that would be required is drilling 4 holes in them.

i dunno about you, but i would not trust my life to seat rails that i welded.. im not an experienced welder..

also the corbeau rails take care of mounting and seatbelt issues, and they cost less than any of the other options mentioned here.. i dont see how its wasting money

It doesn't require any welding, I didn't know it took care of the seat belts you got me there.

All welding that I would have done will be done by a custom fabrication shop so no worries there. I definitely would not trust myself with a torch and some metal. I also called Corbeau and they said that the brackets they had for sale would definitely not fit ANY other seat. I don't know if they were just hating because I bought some Sparcos or if there were being serious but they were adamant that they would not work at all and nothing short of rewelding the whole thing would be able to make them work. I don't have the seats yet, they will be here next week. I will try and get pics but they are being sent directly to the shop that is making the brackets for them so I dont know if I will be able to get pics before they are already on the car. I will see what I can do though. Keep me posted and let me know if you find out that the Corbeau rails will work and Corbeau was just making stuff up. I mean, how different can brackets and rails be??

They are not made by corbeau, they are made by wedge engineering.. all I had to do was drill 4 new holes

Do you have a website or a phone # for them...I wanna contact them and see it the brackets will fit the sparcos...

I too have a question about seats... I was thinking of puting the 60/40 split back seats from an LE into a VE would all the seats fit? even the front ones? assuming it's not power cuz i don't have power anything... except steering

they all have the same bolt in points, but you'll need the latches also and the ovalish trim for that hole after u fold the seat, just make sure u get all the hardware behind the folding seats.. and the front would bolt in no prob.

I have 96 corolla seats in my 99. I had racing seats and harnesses but i just got tired of it. I just got some junk yard seats ($50) and had them upholstered. I had them add some side supports in the top and bottom. They fit better, sit better, and look better. I kept the harnesses and it's still track legal. What more could you ask?
