Doh!!!! You would get votes for Corollas right across the board then you go to a Honda site and you will see a lot of Corolla bashing there. Kind of rhetorical.

    wrong forum... BUT...

they're about equal. corollas have always had more torque and less rust, but civics had better suspensions and styling. all IMO.

it depends on what you want. i bought a civic because i wanted a coupe with features and a 5 speed trans. since the corolla doesn't even offer the coupe they weren't even something i wanted anymore.

i don't think the styling can compare. but that is my opinion.

    you got kids...corolla

you want more options in your econo car...civic

Honda offers the civic in coupe/ hatchback and 4 door...i wish toyota would do that.

compare the looks of a 99 civic to a 99 rolla...id choose civic

Like every other company, Honda is not doing great with two door coupes . Accord Coupe, Civic Si and Acura RSX are troubled in terms of sales. RSX in particular, as nice a sport coupe as it is, has been falling steadily in sales for the last two years. A strong rumor has it, Honda plans to discontinue it next year. Accord coupe V6 is the same story as well. Honda has already eliminated the two door CL from the line up. Subaru WRX Sti, Mitsu Evo and Neon Sti. They are all four door sedans. It is just that two door coupes are dying.

it has been rumored but i don't think they will stop it. as far as the accord v6 goes, i haven't heard them mention that yet. the v6 type r (6 speed) i have bee rumored that more are going to be produced.

The reason that the sti, evo and srt-4 are 4 doors is because of insurance. there is no other reason.

old generation evo's and sti's have been sedans for a while now. IMO, i think sport sedan is not bad at all compared to coupes. You get 2 rearseat doors so you wouldnt have to get out of the car to have people ride in the backseat. =) and its more spacious. i personally don't like feeling confined in my car. i wanna have the best 360 visibility i can get(w/o getting a convertible). the 350z.... wayyy too many blind spots.. but its one hell of a car! during a test drive, i punched it 2nd gear on a u-turn and did a tail slide. i'd call it a drift but hardcore drifter may argue that .. :p

I had this same debate a few months ago when I bought my car. This is what swayed me over to the Corolla side. Having driven both a Honda and a Toyota for some time, I wasn't necessarily having loyalty issues, although I've driven a lot more Toyotas in my time than any other car.

    - The 04 Corolla S comes with what I felt was a reasonable set of ground effects. To my knowledge, none of the Civic models do, so this would be an additional expense on my part.
    - The Toyota, in my research, is about as reliable as it gets as far as performance (knocks on wood).
    - I wanted to modify the car, and there are far more modified Civics than there are Corollas, so immediately, mine is set apart.
    - Power-wise, the base Corolla models all put out 130hp. Only the Civic Si hatch, which I think looks like an ugly egg, put out comparable or better stock power numbers.
    - Security-wise, a Honda seems a far more likely for theft, although that point is moot since I've put all sorts of things into my Corolla, making it just as likely a victim.
    - My insurance company quote me higher prices for insuring a Civic/Accord/Integra as opposed to a Corolla/Camry/Solara.
    - The Corolla S is considerably cheaper than the Civic Si.

And the most important reason, for me, is because I'm superstitous. I drove a Corolla for many years with no problems. I drove an Integra for a year and was in two car accidents. The Corolla was the likely winner even before I started looking.

Actually, NikeAir Civic Si hatch (SiR in Canada) puts puts out 160 HP. I think you mean Civic EX ( Si in Canada), which puts out 127 HP, but severly lacks low RPM punch . But, yeah I agree with most of your posting for my reason to pick a Corolla over Civic. The torque number for EX is very low.

Well, that is exactly my point. In order to increase sales among people who refrain from buying two door coupes, companies have been moving towards 4 door sport sedans. I asked my insurance company about my Corolla XRS insurance and not surprisingly it is going to be only $10 a month more than my 04 Corolla S insurance purely because XRS is a new car. $110 for a high performance sport sedan does not sound bad at all. This is thousands per year low than a Celica GT-S insurance.

As for Honda Accord V6 coupe, I heard it directly from a Honda manager that the sales for the coupe has been extremely poor. Ever heard of an Accord going for 0% financing. Well, I have. They were trying to persuade the customers to look at the Accord Coupe V6 for 0% financing in order to get them off the lot.

Oh, yeah, I know. As far as power goes, I wanted the Si, but that cost considerably more than the Corolla S. Even the EX, when I was looking, cost a little more than I was wanting to pay.

And as far as security messure's go Honda Keys are encoded with a chip. If you don't have the correct key the car will start and then die. Pretty neat feature imo.

Toyota has had the chip in their keys for awhile now. I have it on my 03 rolla and it was also on my 01 rav4. I am not sure how long before 01 toyota had the chip in the key but they have had them for awhile.

both Civics and Corollas are highly reliable but sucks that Toyota won't make a corolla couple lol I wish and there's not many 5 spd on corollas either. but like lekz said man if u want a family car go with the rolla but if u want somethin more stylin go with the civic shit I wouldn't mind a 2000 Si for myself even though everyone has them lol

Talking about a hot rod Corolla. I was reading through toyotanation forum. There is a guy who has a Corolla XRS called black rolla with lighter alloy rims than the stock alloys and some other small mods. He runs a 6.7 secs 0-60 and 15.4 quarter mile. He has smoked Preludes and 2000 Civic Sis

Well, Prelude is almost the same (runs between 6.7 and 7 secs), but a newer car with mods has a potential advantage over a 3-4 year old car.
