Question about putting xenons in a Corolla

My Corolla is the Middle East version seen here:

I've hrd from people that you can't put xenons in with the stock wiring because they are bright and burn out the wiring. I need to change the wiring to do so.. Unfortunately, I can't much to read up on about my car cuz of the limited online forums in my part of the world.

So I was wondering what do I need to put on my checklist before purchasing xenon's? Are HID's better?

    THanks.

HIDs are wayy better, but more expensive. They have lower wattage so they wont do harm to your wiring harness and they are much brighter. When you look at getting xenon bulbs...like PIAAs...they have REALLLy High wattage bulbs..thats what fries stock harness'....like PIAA did that to mine..but not enough to permanently fry them. I got my HIDs on ebay for 300 shipped and it was well worth it.

    Good luck!

somehow... i think u get over the HID thing after about couple month =/

btw... get 55W xenons and u will be fine... 100W xenons then u might be in trouble.

HIDS are lot higher wattage than stock- ALOT higher... but thats why you get a whole different harness and "ballast" - the regular ebay xenons usually higher than stock-anywhere from 65 to 100watts...the higher you get, the more power is drawn, the the hotter it gets where its capable of frying your wires... the best thing to get is a xenon that says it meets DOT regulations-those meet your oem specs and have low wattage-mine are 55w which is oem wattage..

r u talkin bout hids or hyper white bulbs?

hids run at 35 watt... some at 55watt...

our stock halogen setup is at 55 watt...

hid ballast and ignition can run up to couple of hundred thousand volts... but that does not mean it uses 65-100 watts...

if hid run at 65-100 watt... then it would be hotter then the stock 55watt setup...

try running one side hid aka metal halide, and one side hyper white aka halogen.... and let it run for 10 minutes... then feel ur clear headlight cover... the hid ones will not hot... while the halogen ones will be hot as hell...

most auto metal halide run at 35 watts... and they dont run as hot as stock 55 watt halogens.... plus they last longer... cuz they dont burn off of a "wire"...
