LOL - hey, I can't help it ... if I dont patch this stuff - its only a matter of time before a server gets hacked. :)

Are you hosting everything from the server to the site? Or do you use a host? (Thinking I may need to patch my crap) lol

vortex is the host, he owns the server.

LOl Oh nono I was just thinkin to myself really. I meant I'm questioning whether I could host my site off of a cable connection, instead of paying someone to host me.

:D [re-reading the other post] Damn that made me saound like a total retard! LMAO

haha, I couldn't figure it out.

you could do it off cable if you have a static IP.. just have to remember cable uploads are slow, so, the site will load somewhat slower than a dedicated server.

hehe that and remember that cable modems usually max out with 256K-up/3Mbit-down - up would be what your end users would have to deal with.

dedicated hosting is 100Mbit-up/100Mbit-down (however even vvt-i doesnt use that much) -- however having the ability to handle a large load is necessary at a lot of times.

For instance - if you remember how slow this board and vvti.net used to run at times, that would be pretty close to what your board would act like to end users. slow. :)
