    sub and amp help

when u hook up sub and amp, can someone explain the difference between line-level outputs and speaker-level outputs?

also.... I went to pep boys trying to looks for touch up paint, they had plasti-kote thing, but none of the color code would match, my is 1c4, but they the closest i found was 5733 what does it mean?

finanlly, I want to reground my engine, 4 gauge wire looks really big... is that good idea? and I can just use power wires like the wire from battery to amp right? also where can I find some eyelets, apparently Lowes dont carry them..

    thanks

    1. If I'm not mistaken, a line level input (RCA) is a non-amplified output from the headunit. A Speaker level input is an amplified output from the HU that is amplified by whatever power your HU has.

These are used when you want to amplify your speakers and have RCA pre-outs (signal pre-amplification) to go to the amp. Speaker level inouts go to the amp but are spliced from the wires going to the individual speakers and are amplified to some extent.

    2. I don't know anything about touch up paint

    3. Use the biggest wires that you can (to an extent). 4AWG wires will do just fine. The larger wires will pose less resistance to the current for grounding. You can find the "eyelets" at most hardware store in the elctrical section. Try Home Depot or even some auto stores. Most auto parts stores will have some in stock generally for 8AWG and up. If none of those places have it you can find them online for cheap.
