I have thought about these just not sure of the sound quality ?? Not sure if the little compressor would be able to make enough pressure for a good sound ?? The trucks run theirs from the air tanks.

I added an extra pancake horn to mine but still not happy with the sound (cheap ass parts store stuff) I have a high tone and a low tone.

The red Hella horns look nice but are kinda $$ but sure that they sound great.

If anyone has done the air horns let us know if you are happy with the sound.

You would just need to install the compressor in place of the exsiting horn, wire would be + voltage and ground the other lead to the body somewhere. You would also want the horns to be pointed down to keep water out.

why u want an airhorn? just buy those bosch or hella ones, they are pretty loud.
buddy of mine had this airhorn in his pick-up and it's powered by this portable airtank by his seat. so what happens is he always watch the gauge on the tank to make sure he got enough air to blow the horn and he saves the honking unless he's really pissed! :)

it's funny on how he got the thing set up.

i know the person who put air horns in his 03 rolla.

i have also heard the hella horns.

IMO i prefer the hella horns. the hella horns, when u hear it, its more of a "get the fuk out of hte way" horn.

while the air horn is, "ahhh boo!" (then person getting honked at thinks, wtf is that thing? a boat?) horn.

ehhehe, yep, get the fuck outta my way...oh man. ive ran an old lady off the road one time, she cut me off on a 60MPH road, coming off the median, so i honked at her, and right back onto the median she went, and across into oncoming traffic...

hehe...i dont mean to be whorish in this thread but heres some more info on them:

    Dual Hella Supertone Horns:
    1 300hz and 1 500hz
    max rating at 118dB
    around $70ish

i used the stock wiring for the horn to use as a power supply so they arnt as loud as they can be. I could have used the relay that came with it, but that would have ment more wiring. and if u havnt seen all the lights in my car, there is enough wiring already. it does come with a relay but at the time, i had NO idea what to do with it.

I dunno, how did u wire them up vamp? and where did you mount them? i wanna re-mount mine cz its kinda ghetto how they are siting right now

if you look at any grille shot of his car, they're right up front behind the grille...and since he's got a mesh grille, they sortof stand out since they're bright red.

as far as the wiring question...he'll be able to answer when he's back home and online again...unless he did a DIY on it(i can't remember if he did or not).

i have FIAMM air horns on my car.. Ferrari sound..

    www.harborfreight.com

make sure and use the provided relay.. you can't just wire the compressor to the horn circuit.. you'll blow fuses daily..

extremely good horn.. and cheap :D

I have the red Hella-two tones, but I like that sound that Ford horns give off. I want something like that, but louder.
