    question about tires.

i am going to be purchasing tires in the next few weeks. i have a couple of options. my parents want me to but michliens from bj's wholesale. total there will be 416 dollars. they want me to get michiliens. or i can get the top of the line ones on tire rack.com for about the same price and have them installed at work. any ideas on what i should do????

i have the money, so that isn't the prob. i dont want to get a set of wheels. so any input would be appreciated.

TIRERACK.COM!!! you wont regret it! you get a lot more for your money! and since you work at a shop=your all set for the mounting and balancing.... michelins are great-but i would go w/ some good japanese tires like kuhmo, yokohama, or toyo..your car deserves the best-besides-its the closest your gonna get to performance tires w/o getting rims and bigger wheels..

    i'd avoid tires from BJ's/Costco/Sam's

just an FYI from someone who worked there, and saw the shoddy work...and dried out tires.

ya. well if i get them thorugh bj i have like free everything and a warrenty. through tirerack i can only have the manufactures warrenty. the tire i am looking at is an 80k mile tire. i think the whole bj's idea is stupid. i am going to a college that is 3 hours away. if i get a flat tire i am fixing it down there. i am not going to drive home to have them fix it for free.

i will prob never buy kuhmos again. sticky tires dont last long. toyos are ok and so are yokahama's. but i think i am going to stick with teh best.

I like the fuzion tires. I got them for 77 dollars for my 16's so far I don't seen any thread wear, and I can fly through rain without any show of hydroplaining or spinning wheels when I take off to burn civics.

look at tirerack to find more details about fuzion tires. when I bought them, there wasn't any reviews yet, but it's basically made by bridgestone. It has excellent thread wear, noise comfort is also excellent, dry and wet tractions are excellent. snow? forget it. its a summer tire other than that, its good over all with nice thread patterns too.

there's a reason they have a warranty...specifically, the Sam's people have messed up so many cars it's ridiculous. i remember a dude coming back to our store when the guys in the shop forgot to torque his lugs...at all...and his one wheel fell off. they had to replace the wheel.

just tell your parents that :)

Ive had three sets of kumhos on my cars, and I love em. Any low profile tire is going to have a shorter life than others.

You can get tirerack.coms warranty for each tire....theyll replace the tire for free if it goes flat.

trust me i have heard my share of mess up stories at honda. the goodyear dealer ship did that and the guy broked down in his neigborhood and basically twisted his axle.

the best i have ever seen was a jiffy lube for got to put oil in the guys car. he drive it about 10 yards and the internals melted. well he took the stuff you write on the windows with and wrote stuff like, "This is what jiffy lube will do to you car for 25 bucks." The car was there for like a week before the county towed it. haha. i never found out what happend though.

tirerack, without a doubt. I had Kuhmo's on my MR2, sticky as hell, great in the rain, and lasted longer than most my others, only dissapointment, they gripped to soon when I was trying to show off and burn out or whip the tail enf out.

I have Kumhos on my Rolla and I have no complaints. There by far the best tires I ever bought. The wear, price and performance are off the charts! Plus the look cool.

I was gonna get kumhos but as I researched it more and read reviews about them, I heared the material they used inside those tires tend to break apart when cornering. That's the reason I decided against them. I read about the Bridgestone Potenza series and they have really great reviews which lead me to the Fuzion tires. They are a new company, still by Bridgestone, so I can compare them with the potenza and they hold up on their reputation as being good tires for a new company. I gots no complaints. I love them, they stick to the road like glue, even when wet. I've taken them on corners and did not slip even once.

I have Yokohama Avid H4's that I got from tirerack along with my rims. Tirerack is great! Their customer service is second to none, and they have very competitive prices. The Yoko's that I have are good for all weather, but the Michelin Pilot's that I had before were like glue on the road! Of course, the didn't last as long as the Yoko's, and sucked on the rain/snow. Anyway, I am a fan of Michelin's, and Yoko's are good as well. I will probably try kuhmo's next time around.

I have 17" Volk wheels and I use these tires. Out of all the tires I have tried, these have been the best all weather "performance" tires I have had. I love em! For 17" tires, these were $300 installed from Big Bear Tire (www.bigbeartire.com or call 800-378-BEAR and talk to Marty-the owner), I am sure 14" would be much cheaper. No hesitation in recommending these tires as an all season tire.

If you are not looking for an all season tire, then I loved my Nitto 555's, best summer tire I have ever had. Incredible is the only word that comes to mind when thinking of these tires....well that is as long as it isn't snowing, then the word that comes to mind is death.

TireRack is a great site too although I was able to get my tires a little cheaper from Big Bear and the customer service was AWESOME. The guy ships all over and he is one of the few authorized Volk dealers in the US so you know he has his s*** together.

So I guess that makes 3 votes so far for the Ziex 512's!
