    Buying tools?

    okay so I wanna buy a small tool set to work on my car with.

    6 point or 12 point?

    3/8th or 1/2?

    is there a good spark plug socket I should get?

    Never cheap out on your tools.. I had some cheap made in china shit break on me quite a few times (but they're so damn cheap)

    my dad had a 102pc craftsman set and i bought a 256 pc set. when i pulled my engine with my friends i found out damn quick that i had a lack of tools. i'm lucky my friends are car fanatics too.

    Both. You never know what you'll need. I bought a 102 pc. mechaninc's tools set at Sears that included all the stuff you mentioned, plus a spark plug socket, screwdriver w/ changeable bits and lots of other shit for only $50. But apparently, Pepboys has a set that has MORE pieces and costs less. I would check them out too.

    I picked up a 151 piece set from Sears -- lifetime warranty (Craftsman), and it has both 1/2" and 3/8" drive...1/2" drive is nice to have..my car has broken a 3/8" socket and a 3/8ths to 1/2" adapter..

    Yeah I know professional mechanics who say after working for years, they still don't have enough tools. There are alot of things that are necessary for only one rarely done procedure, but to do that procedure, you HAVE to have that tool... So it gets expensive to have everything you could ever need.
