    vinyl dash trim

My vinyl dash kit arrived this afternoon and I was eager to install it in my 95 'rolla. After cleaning the dash (you have to use denatured alcohol, which isn't very colour-friendly) a few times as instructed, I proceeded to apply the vinyl. Let me tell you, "some trimming may be required" is an understatement. None of the pieces fit and it wasn't because they required trimming. The holes were in all the wrong places and many of the pieces were too small. Finally, after the pieces kept sticking together I just gave up. Has anyone else tried applying this vinyl trim? What were your experiences with it? It looks really sweet if you can apply it properly. There are pictures on this website:

that does look nice, i am still iffy on painting my interior but if that vinyl works i'd rather do it, i'm eager to hear some feed back to see if you're the only one w/ big problems or if the thing itself is at fault

Thanks! I'm very happy with it. Easy to do, reasonable price. Sherwood stands behind their product too with support & warranty.

I'm looking at some of the wood dash trim kits on eBay for my car (have been looking a long time). Anyone gotten any of these? The one I'm looking at sells for about $90. They have mostly good feedback. It seems like the these trims kits are either hit or miss though. Some folks get the same kit and it fits perfectly and sticks well. Others get it and some parts are off and don't tend to stick well. Kinda hard to tell from feedback, which can be relatively uninformative.

That's the auction though, check it, lemme know your thoughts. Seems like most of the negative feedbacks relating to poor product quality are for the aluminum kits. Whereas I am looking at the wood kits.

Here's a link to the eBay seller I got mine from. Good customer support also, answered some questions I had. He has an eBay store where you can look for your year & model. (I think he carries all kinds, wood, brushed aluminum, etc...for most years)

Forgot to mention....my dash kit came with a "Corolla" logo over the glove box. I covered it up with the TRD CF emblem.....

Doesn't carry them for 00's, bummer. Double bummer is that he is fron San Diego, I could have probably done a pick-up or at least got it shipped super fast. Your input is much appreciated though!

Anyone else got any wood dash stories/experiences?

Did you email him? Sometimes he can get stuff that's not listed. Also, do a search for Sherwood Dash Kits....they may have something. BTW...I saw one of their wood dash kits....looked fantastic!

Hey Captaincorolla, I have the factory dark wood grain kit for my 00. I love the look the only problem is the UV from the sun (and the heat) will cause problems with separating mostly on the piece that is around the radio and vents (at the top edge) I also have some "light spots" in other pieces as well. When I bought the car I talked them into replacing the center part for me, glad it was on their bill because I priced the piece that goes around the passenger vent and the dealer told me $60 !!!! for 1 small piece !!! I think there are 9 pieces used in the factory kit. Good luck with your search. CW

Rvinyl has terrible customer service and poor products

I had the same issue with this kit. All the die-cuts were in the wrong place. I contacted the company on it and they said they would give me store credit for the returned product. I asked them, "Why would I want more poorly die-cut decals? I want a refund." They replied, we retract our previous offer and advise me to stop harrassing them. Very poor customer service and I don't recommend this garbage to anyone.

im late in answering this... if vinyl has complications... you could always do away with custom painting... looks alot more factory... just my two cents...
