    Test drove an SRT4 yesterday...

Well, I finally decided to go down to the Dodge place and drive this thing to see what all the fuss is about. For the price, this thing is really a steal. I mean, $24k out the door for that kind of power is nice.

Driving was not all that smooth...It had sort of a "race car" feel. The steering wheel shook a little on idle but when I popped the clutch, there was a very good response! Although redline is at 6, you can get up to high speeds very quickly. The throws are short and the clutch is very responsive (reminds me of a stage 1). It boosts at 17lbs (I may be wrong but I thought that was it) and you can feel it very nicely.

All in all I think that this is a good bagain car with some good pep to it and opportunity for Mopar upgrades (keeping the warranty). I would get one if I could sell my car. The SRT4 or the RSX-S would be my choices.

That's what makes me lean a little toward an RSX-S. Redline at 8 grand and just sounds mean as hell with h/i/e when you hit vtec. All I would do to an RSX is get a black one, 18'' black wheels with polished lip, drop, h/i/e, tint and I would be done with it. Nice and clean!

if you want to go fast for cheap, srt is the only way to go right now. but you get what you pay for (i.e. reliability, build quality).

Forget you guys and your RSX-S and SRT-4's I am sticking with my 03 rolla S. and even if I did want a change it sure as hell wouldn't be honda or dodge. Just wait I'll have SRT-4 and RSX-S owners wishing they had my car. Toyota now theres reliability for you!

Get your Corolla S supercharged and RSX Type S will be eating your dust. As for the SR-T, it is butt ugly. Period.

I would much rather go for the RSX-S, so much nicer, theres more to cars than just speed. RSX-S has power and its awsome.

With the SRT4? Um prolly not. I mean, I am only boosting 6 lbs man. I could prolly "keep up" but not win by any means. There is a guy that works at Toyota that has an SRT4. Maybe after I get my clutch and rebuild my tranny then we can race :D

Um...NO my friend. The RSX-S runs around a 15.0-15-3 quarter mile. True, that isn't beating a S/C Corolla S but it's damn close right there. Give the RSX a header, intake and full exhaust and there will be no dust eaten what-so-ever. S/C the RSX and the Corolla just doesn't stand a chance at all.

Oh and LoRolla...About reliability---Um, Honda is just as good as Toyota. I know that you are die hard Toyota and all but if I had an RSX to begin with instead of my Corolla (my fault), I would be running high 13's!

No man, you want I/E/Hondata/Race Header :D Trust me on that one...Hondata is a god send. Hit me up on IM's if you ever seriously consider going that route because I think I could help you out a lot (though I'm sure you know quite a bit about cars judging from your sweet setup).

Oh yea, redline is 7900rpms, fuel cuts off at 8200rpms. Get Hondata, fuel cuts off at 8600rpms. Just FYI.

And man, I'd love to get a ride in your car. Its awsome to see what people are doing around here.

7 year Warranty on the powertrain...that's decent. I don't think reliability is really a question because I have multiple friends that own SRT-4 and they all claim the block is bulletproof, especially under stock boost. I don't own one myself, but I still think it's a great buy. Just insurance. It's more a question of brand...I wouldn't mind driving that domestic.

well before I got my corolla I was looking at the SRT-4's as a choose. The main problems they had with them where in the 03 model year. The 04's are stronger, and they cost no more. The 04's have large injectors and a quafe Diff stock. the larger injectors are for the Mopar stage 1 turbo upgrade. I also heard from a guy that races them that the axles can handle almost 400hp stock. Basically this car was engenerred(sorry not a speller) with bigger stronger parts from the factory just so it could be modified. Dodge really did a good job on those cars. Now if only Toyota would jump on the bandwagon with everybody else and bring the SUPRA BACK.

wat good would the supra do? Can u afford it? Can anyone on this board afford it...probably not. Toyota has jumped on the bandwagon = Scion. Its jus that all the scion cars arent fast. Toyota also doesnt like to share its engine blueprints which makes it hard to do serious engine tuning. Toyota is out to make money. U want performance? Buy a honda, nissan, mazda, mitsu, or a domestic like dodge.

LOL, don't get mad, I am just saying. LOL I get your point and what your saying, when I worked at Toyota I heard that the next gen Supras where most likely to be priced in the high 40's to low 50's and would be sporting a Lexus V8 for power. I know what your saying, what I am saying is I wish Toyota would bring the supra back like it was to begin with a medium to low cost no frills sports car. That's how the MKI and MKII supra's where, then they added all kinds of Luxary stuff to the MKIII's and the price started to jump. I am saying Toyota needs to do a SRT-4 type vehicle a low cost bare essentuals enthusists car.
