please people.... learn to do stuff yourself.... so much more rewarding both monetary wise and proudness wise..... i would not be proud of my ae92 if i had someone else do my motorswap.... etc...

is there a DIY site or somthing to soldering? i really wanna learn how to also, but i dunno where to begin, or get the stuff to do it

So yeh I went to get my e-manage installed today. Got there, they worked on other stuff and kept putting it off. They get it all hooked up and guess what? It's messed up. With it hooked up it was only firing on 3 cylinders, and fuel was shooting out my muffler. So of course I had to pay them for the installation, which was 330 dollars. And I paid 350 for this busted POS (ebay damnit). If this guy doesn't give me my money back, I swear something will get it in return.

On top of all that Ive been up for 23 hours, 10 hours of which i was working, so I'm tired and Im going to bed. Good night.

Damn...That sucks dude...That makes me thankful that I know 4 mechanics that will do that stuff for me for free!

If I ever get a working one I'ma just install it myself. Just gotta learn how to sauder.

saudering is actually very easy. i started fixing things with the suadering iron when i was like 12. we use to fix the tv remote and do some other things. but having a mechanic that you can trust always helps.

Nothing to it. Keep your solder tip tight & clean with a wire brush, Heat the wire connection first and then melt solder onto connection. Get rosin core solder 60/40 (NOT ACID CORE), If close to a small component work quickly so heat wont cause damage. CW

soldering isn't too terribly hard...but i know if you look at hobby sites(or use google...there are tutorials on it around) you'll find info. there's no real DIY for it...it's a little more involved than that.

did u buy the emanage used? r u sure the shop tuned it to the right settingz 4 the rolla and what not? cuz there is a post on here that has the installation setup for 98-99 and 00-02 rollas...so if u need it...lemme know and i'll post it up

it looks like a basic pin to plug connector. Usually in the computer world there is 0 saldering for that kind of thing. Usually you can pull the wire,strip the end, and twist together and put back in. Am i wrong?

It's the same shop that installed my eManage. They did a good install on mine and had my notes as reference. I think he got it used though.

actually yeh im gonna look at the install when i wake up. Cuz they switched one of the wires out saying it wasn't supposed to be there. But the guy had it working on his car.....so I dunno. If I find out thats the problem, I think Ima install it and if it works I might try to get my money back or at least get it tuned for free. But as I said before, I dunno.

Well Im looking at the wires and stuff and am bewildered myself lol. One thing I remember them doing is switching two wires on the ignition set, saying omg why is this like this? So Im wondering if that was the problem to begin with. First off Does anybody that has it installed for their 98-02 have pictures of the harnesses? Otherwise Im gonna have to figure out if that was the problem or whatnot.

On a side note, sorry vamp I know how much you are sure of this place and all, I did not like the way they did business there. I made an appointment for when they opened, 10 am. I get there they start there business. Guy comes in to get his sti dynoed and there like he wasn't supposed to come in til later. So what does one of the owners do? Puts my car into the other side of their shop. So I go to get breakfast and walk around since I already know its suppose to take at least 4 hours. Come back like an hour later and my car is parked outside, the one sti is on the dyno and another sti that was sitting outside before was now in the air and they were tinkering with it. That alone sorta pissed me off, so I go walk around with my friend some more. Come back, car is back in and finally are pulling out the panels to get to the ecu, can't remember the time but Derrick showed up to give them the Ecu pinouts (which I kept offering to them before, but they refused saying they had it). Stick around for a bit. The 2 owners crack open some beers....Im just sitting there thinking in my head wtf are they doing drinking??? I mean does anybody else see a problem with drinking on the job? They tell me by 3 it should be all hooked up, 430 comes around and he is just finishing up. They said they started it and it would start but then shut off like 10 secs later like there was no fuel. The E-manage was blinking green to red. They tinker with some stuff, and then the car wouldn't come one, they blew a fuse. Tinker some more, car comes on, sounds like it was only running on 3 cylinders (sounded kinda tight lol), the whole car is shaking, and fuel is shooting out the tailpipe.

They try some other things, and say I probaly have a busted e-manage. They ask me if I want to leave it overnight (its now 5:45 and they close at 6). Of course I say no because I live 90 miles away. So they go ahead and pull it all out and wire it back up normally. Starts up fine. I pay then leave.

Looking at it today, they left 3 screws from the bottom off and 2 from the front panel off. The rotary switches were right (4-2-2), but Im unsure about the main harness (the slots and all don't line up with the instruction manual) and the same with the injector and ignition harness.

For those of you that read through this thank you, lol. I know how some readers here don't like to read it when its more than 3 sentences.

Damn that sucks ross. Yeah i know how u feel about your car comin second and stuff.. When i took my car up there to get my racing seats installed, they were late getting there...then they were working on some guys civic turbo..i waited for like an hour and a half..then it took them like 4 hrs to do the seats but only because they took their time instead of focusing on it. Yeah, they are cool people but I question their business methods as well. Oh and yeah they drink beer on the job, i couldnt believe that either. Im sorry no matter how "good" your shop is....you dont drink in front of customers.

Did they change the jumper setting from 6 to 12V?

Sounds like a bunch of good ol' boys 'running' that place. I'm rather surprised your car started after the fools worked on it...

I talked to them today. It was my friend Dean that did the wiring on your ride. He's very competent with wiring up electronics and said he checked the jumpers and wiring several times and is convinced that the problem must be with the eManage unit itself. Also, for the price you got the eManage used, you could have payed just a little more and gotten a new one. Too bad I was busy at the time, or I would have come by and taken out my eManage for you to test it with.

well i found out it was working on another car, and the wires were miscolored. They switched 2 or 3 wires and I need to find out which ones they were.

What do you mean the wires were miscolored? Like you got the harness with 2 wires mixed up? Maybe that's why Dean had to switch two? Anyway, post up the order of your wires in the harness, and I'll compare it to mine when I have the chance.

Ok first is connector 1 from left to right on the top row

Pink with Red stripe, yellow with red stripe, orange with red stripe, black with red stripe, grey, white, yellow, sky blue/baby blue

bottom row

blue with red stripe, sky blue with red stripe, purple with red stripe, green with red stripe, white with red stripe, red (which is cut??), black, brown, green, purple

2nd connector top row

blue with white stripe, orange with white stripe, purple with white stripe, last two slots empty

bottom row

blue with black stripe, orange with black stripe, yellow with white stripe, yellow with black stripe, purple with black stripe

I think the two yellows were switched but not sure.

Ok, I'll try to have a look at it tonight. I have it ziptied under my seat, so it's kind of not that easy to access.
