Well, duh, but if i was going to spend up to 16k, it sure as hell wouldn't be on a '00 GTS!

Insurance wise, NO!!! Gas wise, NO!!! That is way to expensive for an 00. I drove it and didn't like the gear box. My dad also didn't like it. If you are over 6 foot there is no way that you will fit in one.

    Opinions? Celica GT-S

I found a 2000 celica gt-s at the dealer a couple days ago. Its a 6 speed manual. I definately wouldn't pay over $16,000 for it. What do you guys think of those cars? I will probably go test drive it tomorrow.

It's just a thought right now, if I take out a loan I will have plenty to get it but I would have to sell my corolla. I don't even know if I can go through with that, theres so much work and money into it.

I say yes but im bias since I love the styling. It defeneatly faster then your rolla (unless you got some nice engine work). Oh and a LOT sportier than a rolla (body style) so its cooler

You have to be careful with those. A lot of people mis-shifted and blown their engines. Not to mention that in those years, the engines had a problem with the lift bolts. I think with I/E/H and Power FC, you should be in the 13's easily. Just make sure it's not automatic though, those are as slow as the auto GT's. Eww. Insurance in those cars are killer as well.

well the one down side to a manual is you can drive all gansta style. lol. you really have to have a good driving position. and my head was touching the roof and i am 6,1. my bro is 6,3 and he couldn't even fit.

style wise i like it, engine obviously needs a little work, but it's a good one to start with. you could find it for less than $16000, though

i drove in my friend's 2002 gt-s AUTO, and i wasnt impressed at all really-it was "ok"...the celica's highlights are not its performance-but rather its handeling-the celica has the most stiff body design-a real rigged chassis, and very responsive in turns-thats about it-but it does rev real high-which is kinda nice...

ive seen a 2k gts for 12k...if i could sell my car i would get a GTS. a 14sec car is pretty quick to me. And now that Lotus is using the 2zz im sure some company will make cams for the engine and maybe it can keep up wit a modded RSX-S. I won't buy one unless i wrecked my rolla...but i dont think my next car will be a Toyota.

Well I dont know anything about the real power but I'm going to test drive it tomorrow regardless. I'd honestly rather have a different car for $16,000 too. I want like a z3, supra, rx7, gsx, but my parents dont go for that. Theyre obsessed with import reliability thats probably why we have 3 cars and that are toyota/honda. Does anyone have any other suggestions for cars in that price range? Used but probably 2000 or newer.

By the way I'm 5-7 and am pretty much done growing so heights not a big problem.

I say look more for a better price but definately get the GT-S its a good car. Theres more to a car than jus 1/4 mile times and hp ratings.

if u look you can find a Type-R for 16k..ive seen it
    Ask for a TC
    Mazdaspeed Protege
    MR2 - find a nice clean one
there are lots...u jus gotta find out wat u want and choose the rite car

Inusance wise it is only going to be cheaper beacuse it is a 4 door. It might actually be higher since 1500 are going to be made.

The official volume released by Toyota was limited edition Canadian built 5000 XRS units for the whole year. But, the way the sales are going, they would sell these many in 2 months. I already know 6 people who have got. I am getting it in 2 month's time as well.

You could still go for a N/A Supra. Then later on if you want you could drop the GTE engine or sell it and get the turbo model.

I'm hoping that 16.9 the driver sucked. I'm gonna test drive it today, I'll let ya guys know how I think it goes. Thanks for the suggestions on cars but I definately want a 2 door more sporty car. Some other options maybe, what do you guys think of the Acura RSX-S? And whens the scion tc come out, i wouldnt mind test driving one of those.

Acura RSX-S is equal to the Celica GT-S when it comes down to straight line performance. Although the ride in the RSX-S is more luxury compared to the GT-S, the GT-S is better in braking and handling. But the RSX-S beats the GT-S when it comes down to aftermarket.
