Finally put it up on the dyno...

Well, my car hasn't been running worth a shit lately so I decided to take a trip to Birmingham and go to the big performance shop they have and let them dyno-tune it. I was excited because Nopi "Race Wars" is this weekend and I was going to have it running good. Well, excitement turned into dissapointment and nervousness....

When I arrived, I told them what I wanted to do so they took the car and hooked it up and started...It didn't take long before I was asked questions about my fuel system. They mainly wanted to know about my injectors. They are stock---and that is my BIG problem that I have--

A normal Air/Fuel ratio for a turbocharged car is about 12:1 and 10:1 is really really rich. Well, my car has a 21:1 A/F ratio. That is very bad. They didn't even want to run a base run! Even told me not to boost it until I got new injectors. Now I have to get in touch with Venom and get me some made. The guys at Next Level told me that I had a good base setup, I just need to build on that with some injectors--and I needed them bad.

I am going to have them ordered tomorrow and hopefully they will be here Friday morning and then I can put up some dyno numbers. Wish me luck guys.

there is absolutley no way that you are running 21 to 1 AFR.......... thats an off throttle AFR on decel

if you even ran 21 to 1 during normal driving you would melt your whole engine down........ how did they supposedly test your AFR?

if it "just started running like shit" it could be that your injectors are dirty.. have you tried finding injectors from another car? WRX? it's just a guess..

They installed a bung and tested it...I sat there and watched the numbers come up on the computer...I know that they are not trying to pir me b/c they didn't even charge me for the dyno run, plus, they know that I am not going to get the injectors from them. They told me to get some installed, then come back and we can see then how it's running. It was 17:1 just under idle!

I am about to call Venom and order them now. I doubt that they are just dirty. It has been running like this for a while. I am suprised that I havent just burnt up my piston rings. I may have some internal damage that hasn't surfaced yet :( I am sure that this will fix my problem though.

440cc should do the trick right?

How much they charging you. I got my 550cc from Monkey Wrench Racing for $113 a piece. Shipping was fast once they got the injectors in.

Actually I found some injectors from a Camry (2.4L/360cc) today and we are going to get those in and see how well they will do. They were free so I can't really go wrong. If they dont do the trick, then I will get the 550cc ones from MWR.

i dont think you understand that running so lean will destroy your engine........ ive witnessed pre detonation on engines with an AFR of 14to1 and 15to1........ 17to1 at idle and even leaner under load and your engine should be TOAST........

im not talking like i know your situation, im talking from facts and experience

of course injectors will help, but they had to have done something wrong......... did they install the bung after the cat?

I dont think that you understand that I stood there and watched the numbers come up on the computer...Everyone in the shop was called over to see it. I didn't, however see where the bung was installed but it is a professional shop and I am sure they knew where to put it. They were just as amazed as you...Everytime someone new would come into the shop, they called them over to see the numbers. I felt kinda stupid but i mean, they were just as shocked that it haden't melted my pistons.

Turbo4AGE is right, lol - @ 21 you'd have blown up a long time ago...

Running stock injectors through 10.5psi the LEANEST i got was 12.2:1. Somethings not right..

I think someone there fucked up something honestly... it is IMPOSSIBLE for your car to be running right @ 21:1 - ESPECIALLY under boost.

why are you getting so bent out of shape about a bunch of people on the net saying this and that..??

the whole point of the thread is YOUR CAR IS MESSED UP and needs fixing. whether the reading was 21:1, 1000:1, or 0.0001:1 , the point is that something is wrong. kudos on taking proper steps to get it fixed (i.e. taking it to get dyno tuned, new injectors, etc.) and keep us updated on the process.

the performance shop that did this work, said he could run a 120 shot of nos with no problems.

.. is this NA? stroked? i think you got your numbers flopped..

oh, and in the future, posting a dyno sheet FIRST would probably be smarter...

OK OK...You guys caught me. I am lying.

This isn't some race story about how I killed a 'Vette like some people in this board do. Why would I want to lie about how much of a piece of shit my car is? Um, I know that its so unbelieveable but hey I guess next time something like that happens, I will know not to post it on this board...

Ah, I can tell, it's slowly but surely turing into the old vvti.......damn.

    dude honestly thats physically impossible...
thats why they are jumping on you
thats not hard to believe, but close to impossible..

i would have them run it again, with the stock injectors, and
then have them replace ur stock with ur new ones, and run it again
thats they only way you will find out for sure.

    Good luck nonetheless
