What tool set do you rec?

What tool set do you rec?

I know lots of you people work with your cars and i'd like to know what tool sets you guys use.

I'm looking for a whole set with sockets and everything. My dad has a few socket wrenches but i think they are the wrong kind. It doesn't fit some bolts but others it does.

So ... i think i want both the SAE and the other kind .. i forgot what it is called. I don't think i want to spend more than $150 US on it, but i'll think about it.

What brand do you guys get? What is good? Where did you get them?

I dont' work on my car that much, but it would be nice to have tools of my own.

I use stanley sockets and wrench, Use 6 point sockets instead of 12 point, I got mines at pep boys. Dont know how much mines cost because it was a gift.

Right now, Sears has Craftsman sets on sale (276 piece standard & metric) with small roller cabinet for 139.95.....and several smaller sets at less cost. Checkout sears.com, they should have most of the sale sets listed

i use craftsman primarily.... but dont buy tools you dont need

if youre only working on your corolla then all you need is metric, i have this ass load of standard tools just laying around all shiny

plus with sears/craftsman you get the lifetime warranty if you ever manage to break them

primarily youll be using 10mm 12mm 14mm and a 21 for lug nuts..... get a set of metric sockets short and deep and a good assortment of extension...... and youll primarily only use a 3/8ths and 1/2inch drive ratchets so invest in a few of those for different applications...... my 3/8ths swivel head ratchet with a long handle is my most used one, i suggest one of those

lots of wrenches also...... i have them from 8mm to 19mm, there are different designs so choose for your application

go with craftsman......I bought the kit and they don't break easy.....like tool shop...they suck ass....

Yea stanley is also really tough and durable, I havent had any probs with mines

Snap-On - but it's big bucks... I've acquired a large set of hand tools primarily thru my days as a bicycle mechanic.

If you're looking for an excellent socket wrench, I'd suggest a 13 piece SK/Facom Socket Set (http://www.skhandtool.com). I've had a 3/8-in drive, 6-point, std depth metric socket set for about 15 years. No failures and it's a nice piece - maybe even better than Snap-On's.

i got a 165 piece craftsman tool set from sears

Craftsman all in one set sockets and wrenchs for me. But when you drive a Toyota you just never need them for anything !! CW

i did an engine replacement with a walmart $25 set lol

i got craftsman, snap-on, stanley, fuller and husky tools from home depot.
craftsman have lifetime warranty and so does husky. both good stuff. sears usually have sales on craftsman. snap-on is very expensive but excellent tools.
when it comes to tools, i rarely buy no-name stuff coz they break easily - u get what u pay for.

i'm not liking craftsman too much anymore...... my 3/8"s ratchet wrench has already broken..... it's quite annoying.....

I use mostly craftsman because Snap On/MAC/Cornwell etc... are more expensive and have the exact same warranty policy. Plus I don't like having to wait a week for the tool guy to show up.

Only thing that stinks about craftsman is that they don't usually make tools for specific purposes on specific vehicles. Plus finding help in my local Sears is sometimes an epic adventure.

Damn, I must be lucky. My Sears has GREAT service in the Tool department. Craftsman is the shit. Break it and go back to any sears and swap it out. Simple as that. That's a deal. And damn good priced. Never had one break on me yet either.

You can't beat a life time warrenty. Tools break face it. I have had 14mm. Wrenches break in two. Was replaced the day I took it back. Can't beat that.

dang ... so it's craftsman stanley or snap on ...

i think i'll go with craftsman since it's going to be my first real set ... and i don't have too much to spend on snaps ...

i really can't see myself breaking a wrench though.... wow... you guys must be putting on some crazy muscles to go against the wrench .. haha

craftsman... and husky (by homedepot)...

as long as u can find stores that are close to u... and offer life time replacement... then ur good to go...
