Read the article. It is informative about how today's vehicle companies fare in automotive safety. That is all. Not sure what you had in mind.

I am not sure about Tacoma, but I saw an offroad test on Car and Drive television and it is one hell of a tough truck that does not lose control.

I saw the NHTSA test on 03+ Corolla about a year ago and it is five star frontal and rear collision 4 star on the side collision and the roll over resistance was excellent( not sure how many stars it was). That is the reason why the B and C pillars are extremely thick.

    There you go:

NHTSA Crash Test Results Toyota Corolla 4-door sedan
    Crash Test, Driver 5
    Crash Test, Passenger 5
    Rollover Resistance 4
    Side Impact, Driver 4
    Side Impact, Rear Passenger 4

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) tests a vehicle's crashworthiness in front- and side-impact collisions and rates its resistance to rollovers. Their test results suggest the chance of serious injury, while rollover resistance ratings are based on how top heavy the vehicle is and indicate the chance for rollover when the vehicle leaves the roadway. Front crash test numbers indicate: 5 = 10% or less; 4 = 10-20%; 3 = 20-35%; 2 = 35-45%; 1 = More than 45%. Side impact numbers indicate: 5 = 5% or less; 4 = 6-10%; 3 = 11-20%; 2 = 21-25%; 1 = More than 26%. Rollover resistance numbers indicate: 5 = Less than 10%; 4 = 10-20%; 3 = 20-30%; 2 = 30-40%; 1 = More than 40%.

Yeah, I agree on Mazda being owned by Ford. Actually, Mazda 3 is the new Focus underneath and that is why I will never get a Mazda, but Mazda does have a lot better engineering in their cars than Ford since Ford still owns 33% of the stakes. They do make the major decisions for Mazda, but Mazda engineers are not directly involved with Ford.

my dad got a new mazda truck and when I told him that ford and mazda where affiliated they only word out of his mouth was SOB. So there is my familys look on fords.

As for me some of the older fords looked good, but some of the newer ones make we wonder what where the designers smoking or where on.

yeah tacomas are tough. Your girlfriend can push one over a cliff at a beach, and it'll land on it's tires without denting at all! :)

I will agree that the reliability of fords (actual fords) are shady, but some of their cars are really good. SVT Mustang Cobra R, Focus RS (we don't get), the old cosworth cavaliers (i guess it doesn't count cuz cosworth is a seperate company), s/c thunderbirds, older stangs, lightning.

I like the new mustang. They even had a sign up for dibs on a new one. The local dealership had a day that if you put a deposit on the purchase of the car you get a cruise. I think they are going to sell well.

    mustangs IMO:
    1965 - 1970 were great!
    1970-1978 (overweight boats)
1979 - 1993 (crap, lots of problems.. My dad had an 89, and the wiring harness caught fire. If he didn't have a drink with him to put it out, he could have died)
1994 - 2004 (stylish, very small.. Never really rode in one but they look good)
2005 - Much like the revamped thunderbird, they did a really good job bringing classic lines to a fresh look.. Not sure if it will help bring back sales of mustangs though
