I have two basslink 10". I did not want to sacrifce space either. I got one first but it was not enough bass for me, so I decided to go with two. I am happy now :D I am pumping 400W RMS and the bass is solid without been overwhelming. I have the fold down seats, but I never ever have to fold them down to hear/feel the bass! My number one concern was not losing the trunk space so I am happy that I have bass, and still have space. It will never be as loud as a box that takes up the whole trunk, but man it is way enough for me! Mkes my butt vibrate.

You also need to think about changing your interior speakers, and amping those. I got a Alpine MRV-F340 for the interiors with infinity kappas all around! My sound is very crisp and loud enough to get the attention of other cars around me. I was recently setting the alarm off of someone parked three feet away from me at a meet!

here is a thread with the beginning of my install:

    http://www.northeasterntuners.com/m...viewtopic&t=422

I still had the stock stereo and it sounded OK, then I could not wait any longer and upgraded to the ClarionVRX935VD

here is the thread with that install:

    http://www.northeasterntuners.com/m...viewtopic&t=973

I also installed the second basslink at that point, and with the new radio the sound was a totally different world! Really really clear!

Then I just needed a little bit more, so I added some more compnents:

I have cleaned up all the messy cables now, and the install is alot cleaner. I say if you want just enough bass maybe go with two basslinks, or just one good 12" with a decent amp. I agree and think that audiobahn is not a real good amp, for that go with a Phoenix Digital or even a JBL. I also had amp hell choices and here is a thread with good advice:

    http://www.northeasterntuners.com/m...viewtopic&t=366

This was at the beginning of my plans.

To summarize, i love my curent setup. it is not really flashy, or intrusive, and I enjoy my car so much more now! My plans were also small and humble when I first started, but then I got the bug! And the was no turning back man! I have recently added an XBOX and I will be modding it in the near future. I also got the Dolby 5.1 decoder and a center channel! It is so much better watching dvd's in my car than it is at home! lol

In all, I have spent close to $1700 in equipment, and when I first started out I was like you, just wanting to spend a few hundred dollars. I did all the installs myself, in a space frame of 4 weeks working Saturday's.

For those that do not want to go through all the threads and look at pics here are pics of my left and righ basslinks:

Good luck man, and I think if you want cheaper, of if you prefer the basslink, go with the small model, it has almost the same output as te T and it takes up less way space!

BTW I did 90% of my shopping on eBay as well, including my HU! Great deals!

Let us know what you decide!

thats it... its all gone... my old sub, amp and box disappeared (sold em/gave away)

i want some new beat with clean, well-hitting bass. i dont want to hurt my ears, but i want to feel the bass.

i dont want to spend over 375 on everything as i have other plans for the summer for the car (coilovers / paintjob).

for example one setup would be:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...ssPageName=WDVW
(recommended by someone on another post, but unsure of the output since it has low wattage)

    another setup would be:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...5703150388&rd=1 AMP

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...5702656272&rd=1 BEAT

and then a ported 12 box to finish it off

SUGGESTIONS are welcome... I have heard some of the most conflicting advice ever on this audio install

    1st- dont go with sony
2nd- audiobahn doesn't reach its "said" wattage/ doesnt hold up
3rd- sony is better than audiobahn
4th- 300 rms jbl amp and 2 jbl 10's will sound better than the audiobahn setup above
5th- american made beat is better than japanese- for audiobahn all you are paying for is the show chrome, you get less output
6th- ported boxes are way worse than slotted/slotted boxes are way worse than ported

LAST MAJOR NOTE: my rear seat DOES NOT fold down so the bass will need to make it all the way through the trunk and still sound good and not drown out.

thanks and sorry for the long post

I hear ALOT of good things about the Basslink.

However, if you want to go custom. Do a search on the "deathbox" bandpass style box thats adjustible. 2 people I know have one and love it. It produces alot of Bass with a 10" and doesn't take up too much space.

I have a 12" JL in a ported box that takes up a moderate amount of room, I attatched the amp to the side of the box to save room.

ALSO... I hear alot of good and bad things about audiobahn. I had an audiobahn bandpass setup for a month and HATED it. Some people here swear by them though.

    1st- true
    2nd- somewhat true
    3rd- false
4th- assuming both installs are ideal then yes
5th- yes with audiobahn you are paying more for the bling but ive never paid attention to what companies come from what country.
6th- ported and slotted boxes are the same thing

Hey, shouldn't this thread be moved to the Audio Visual section? Just think it will be more appropiate there?

    SEALED BOX

    maybe 250watts of power..

    you'll be fine.
