98 tokico struts ride quality

on the old vvti, i remember hearing that the tokico's were stiffer than the kyb-gr2's. i ordered the tokico's, cant wait to get them installed this weekend. hows the ride quality on them? how do they compare to stock?

With what springs?

I have Tokico/Intrax..it's stiff, but not uncomfortable.

Tokico/stock springs - not bad...i liked the setup, even though the car looked like it was ready for offroading.

Tokico/Intrax - 2 votes for stiff but not uncomfy. the car likes turns more with this setup.

I've got KYB and Tein Springs...I'm loving it

Anybody else have that combo, or just us?

same setup here and love the ride quality had intrax before but wasnt really likin it to bouncy for my taste

I just went from Tokico back to TRD/KYB GR-2 for my TRD/Eibach Pro springs, and found the KYBs to work better with that setup. After we put Tokico's on the Intrax setup, that ride was much better too. It depends on what springs your getting and how stiff they are in terms of what struts work best. Also, I had a Tokico blow out on me, which seems to be a common problem with using them on lowered cars.

i guess i started the post cause im not sure what kind of ride quality im supposed to be expecting. i have tein stechs on tokico blues. but it seems a bit bouncy...and i get a little nervous if there are lots of bumps in the road. i mean the tokicos seem to better control the teins and keep my footing, but perhaps not as well as i had guessed them to be.

i guess i cant expect the same performance out of lowering springs/aftermarket shocks, or something to that degree?

you have to sacrafice something for performance, and thats the (some what in a corolla) smooth ride!...

They have lifetime warranties, though..

Yeah, but who wants to be taking them in and out of the car and then paying $$$ to get an alignement?

I do! lol... how bad is the alignment when you switch (we are doing mine tomorrow, on Tein H-Tech springs)...

go to NTB(or Tire Kingdom for those in the south)...we have 1 year alignments for $89.99 and you can come back as many times as you want within a year for free!!!! or save money and get the 3 year (129.99) or 5 year (169.99) packages...IT'S A STEAL OF A DEAL!!!!

Warranty doesn't cover lowered cars, unless you have a hookup.

at my NTB it does...as long as everything that needs to be adjusted is in tact they'll do it.
