I think there would be a higher risk factor trying to DIY instead of just buying the grille from Vpower.net. It's like $30 and installs pretty quickly. Just remove the 3 screws and push on the tabs below. it's really simple and quick. the only thing is you may need to cut the mesh grille to fit where you want it but that takes only a few mins.

Sorry i'm not helping the guy who asked about an 02 corolla. Hopefully someone can help you out.

As for the post prior to mine i don't understand why you had to remove the whole bumper??

    take care...GOOD LUCK! :D

So on the 04 all you do is pull off the 3 screws and then what? I wanted to add in a mesh grille and all I see is the one online, is there a way to go around buying it for a diy???

no you don't have to take off the bumper.... and DIY means "do it yourself"...

here's a pic of my grill... it's not the altis grill you hear about, it's my oem grill i modified and painted myself...

look at www.cardomain.com/id/prodigy3006 and in the show your ride forum at threads by prodigy3006 b/c he did his,

all you really have to do is cut whatever you want to go in that space then use fine wire to tie it in place using all the bars under your front bumper, takes about an hour or so, we used black plastic poultry netting from home depot.

    What on top?

I see how you did that. Cool, but what did you to for the top part of the mesh?
It seems like it would be somewhat flimsy without some support across the top.
