    Fast and the Furious

On the ABC channel, they had fast and the furious as the prime ticket movie. I first watched this movie in the theatres back in 2000 when it came out and I was a university student strapped for cash. I did not like it too much at that time, but I enjoyed the hell out of the movie today. The most fun thing was to watch the Toyota Supra Twin Turbo driven by Vin Diesel and the cop dude and how it smoked a Ferrari. It was really mesmerizing to see Toyota's heritage of high performance sport cars in the 80s and 90s. After 7 years of Supra's demise, there is still nothing out there that can compete with the Toyota Supra Twin Turbo with proper modifications on. It was 10 years ahead of it's time. Probably the only engine in the world that is capable of delivering 1100 HP with just a little 3.0L engine. Now that Toyota gets shot down of building lack luster performance vehicles, I hope Toyota wakes up from sleeping in a huge bed built from cash and work balls-to-wall again to show the world how a true high performance sports car is made. :D

well i know ur right. Nothing can compare to the supra ever. even if they brought out another one no thing like the original thing. they do need to wake up and do something but they are more of a tradition company if it works dont fix it type people. so i dont see them doing that anytime soon

One of the cars that could compete with the Supra is the Skyline.

nothing can match the old supra. the ones in production untill 98. even if they bring out some 450hp volta or whatever in my mind wont compare. sure has more power but its not how can i word this.. not orignial. the supra was a car before its time engine was pratically indestructable and powerful. cars now a days just cant match that

let's see. considering the supra in the movie was a Mark IV Supra. Original? in what terms. "even if they brought out another one" perhaps the Mark V? It all depends on what you mean by that word.

the mark 1 supra was combined with the celica. known as the Celica Supra.
technically speaking that is the "original" back in 1979 i believe.

I do not like the Volta at all. It is more along the lines of a Ferrari or Lamborghini. I can bet that Toyota will never mass produce the Volta. A car like volta would never be able to replace an everyday fast car like Supra. Not a chance. Ferrari apart from it's high sticker price has very limited appeal to the general sport enthusiast because of it's total lack of practicality. Supra looked like your everyday sports car that you can see going by on the street. It could be used as a daily use car. Yet, you would see the ferocious power of this car on the race track. As for the prime of Supra, no one can deny that the prime of Supra was the last model. Never before Toyota had researched and developed so many new technologies including a special light weight fabric developed only for the Supra Mark 4 including one of the most flexible chasis and engine ever built in the automotive history. True, Supra was born on the race and rally track back in the 80s when it used to be called the Celica Supra, but nothing could compare to the perfection Toyota achieved with the Mark 4. It is like the undisputed racing champ. I have seen a video of a Supra Mark 4 smoking the hell out of a Viper. Toyota is too drunk with the success of Lexus. IS300 has the in-line 6 engine from Supra Mark 4, but it has been tuned down a lot.

Also, Supra is the only car that holds it's value better than any other car. A 1998 Supra Mark 4 twin turbo in good condition still goes for $35000 US.

I don't see how you get the fact that it's been tuned down a lot when the IS300 2JZ has about the same HP as the N/A Supra.

I guess, I am comparing the power to the Twin Turbo, which has about 100 HP and 100 foot pounds more than the IS300 ;)

Stock on stock, can an SRT-4 beat a 1998 Supra Mark 4 with the standard manual transmission on both?? I know for a fact that the best 0-60 for Supra 1998 was 4.4 secs.

I don't think so. Either way the Supra will take it in top end.

In the movie, the Supra beats the Ferrari by "spraying NAWZ!!"....it didn't speak at all to the true tuneability and potential of the car IMO...just like how in the second craptastic movie the GT-R has TWO bottles of "NAWZ" (more is bettarr, yo!!!)....

And yeah, the "original" Supras were the old-school Celica Supras.

Well if the supra is non turbo no way. even if it is turboed i still think the 0 to 60 will be close. but the supra will take it top end no prob.
