Which reminds me of the saying, "HP sells car, Torque moves them" or something like that. The MR2 Spyder is competing specifically at the Mazda Miata and it's doing a good job at it. I'm guessing Toyota didn't want to make it any faster than the Miata. I think the only reason why people are pissed about Toyota's line is because Toyota took away the 2JZ-GTE and the 3S-GTE. But if cars with those engines were being sold today, people wouldn't be bitching about the Toyota line, instead they would be bitching about the price.

My uncle works for toyota and he told me that nothing is official but its likely the supra will be out 06 or 07. He said they dont want to start producing them if they wont sell towards a mass market.

Toyota isnt going to do crap ive seen at least 20 threads about this topic going back at lest 3 years now if they wanted to compete why wait do it now so i call BS

yeah, that. toyota has never brought back a nameplate, and never will, it's just that simple.

as for the salesman telling u a supra is coming out again....a salesman told me end of last year we're getting the corolla hatch in 05. It'd be out by now if we were, because toyota tends to bring out the new models really early. Salesmen don't know shit, especially about what the company is going to do. They don't even know about new models until a couple months before they actualy come out.

toyota tends to take about 7 years to take a chance with a car. the last real leap they took was either the mr2 spyder or the lexus 2-seater(can't remember the name, brain no worky yet). they'll be due for another major leap in a couple of years...so that MIGHT mean the supra will be back in whatever incarnation they decide on.

Man I've seen all the F1 races and there is no match for Ferrari.......if BMW Williams can't compete against them I don't think Toyota could go for that goal yet......they're still developing their engine since they were introduced not too long ago. but again.......IT COULD HAPPEN

Well Lekz, if Toyota wantz 2 compete against the 350Z they would need at least a 300HP car that will have better looks, handling and just overall performance for Toyota to be able to acomplish this man. Toyota has come out with pretty nice cars and shit like the Supra for instance but they need to increase power in most of their cars.....except the hybrids lol.......take the Corolla for instance, it makes only around 127 hp and for a family car it ain't that bad but now take a look at the Nissan Altima, it's a family car and its' V4 makes 175 HP????? I mean come on no wonder they sell so damn much lol....let's hope now wit the XRS they might kick it up a little bit. My thinkin is that if Toyota wants to become a part of the Import world just like Honda they need to power up their cars a little bit more and I bet ppl will be buyin cars from them like crazy and then they wouldn't have to speculate about bringin a legend back to try and get ppl 2 buy but then in the end turns out it was only a "Rumor" so this way costumers get dissapointed and go somewhere else u kno wut I'm sayin

well toyota hasnt showed me anything good as far as hp out of any car. i test drove the xrs and it impressed me but not to the point of wowing me. As far as toyota sales people go they dont know anything. I know more about their cars then they do i ask about engine hp tourque that kinda stuff they dont know. The other day the guy told me at toyota he is just there to sell cars thats it. What kind of attitude is that? They should hire better people to represent them then just some every day joe who just wants to make a buck

Who cares what salesmen say. What matters is what Toyota itself says and so far they haven't said crap about whether the Celica is going to be discontinued or not. Neither have they said whether the Supra is going to be back or not (Although there have been reports that the Toyota Volta is going to be the basis for the next Supra). Until Toyota itself makes an OFFICIAL announcement, don't pay attention to what anyone else says. I'm not saying this to you specifically, i'm saying this to everyone who's reading this.

Totally agree wit u on dat one lol........and it wouldn't have been bad to add another like 20-40 hp or so to that MR2 Spyder engine it wouldn't hurt I don't think lol

Toyota needs to swap in that 2ZZ-GE into that MR2 Spyder. Mazda came out with the MazdaSpeed Miata.

the quote is "hp sells cars...torque wins races" i think.

i dont kno if toyota would like to jus jam the 2zz in every sporty car. the 2zz mite not match every car. they need a new resigned 2zz. Or maybe jus make it a 2.0L to give it more torque. I hope the Elise and XRS bring more developers to the table. the 2zz cant fight the k20 with out cams.

your rite tho...ppl would be bitching about price if the 3sgte and 2jzgte were still around. But toyota doesnt need these engines to sell. They are selling jus fine rite now.

most likely they are scoping out the US import car scene b4 they enter the HP war. Scion was a good start.

It all depends. Just because it's a small car doesn't mean you'll be gone in a crash. I've seen several MK2 MR2 crashes and most of the time the driver walks away from the crash. The crash that scared me the most was the one where this guy spun-out off a cliff and landed upside down. Theres a video of it on the internet. Freaky stuff.

Agree wit u on dat Lekz......maybe a development of a totally new engine in the future wouldn't be a bad idea either but hey as long as they raise their power like in the new XRS Corolla that might bring Toyota's sales way up and Corolla's reputation way up now in the Import World since it won't be considered a family car anymore u kno wut I'm sayin.....and Scion was a pretty good start, they're gettin popular here in CO lol......shit if I wuz rich I'd deck out one of those 4 zhow

I think he has it confused. Toyota made a deal with Intel in which Intel shall provide chips for Toyota's F1 team.
