    01 corolla seatbelt help!

alright so i already know i shouldn't have toyed around w/ the seatbelts in the front, but i need help..i know its stupid. so i disassemble the front seatbelt passenger side, and when i put it back, it still works. the thing is, when it is unbuckled, it doesn't automatically retract back, there's this huge slack :( anyone know how i could get it fixed? thanks

Sounds like the coil isn't retracting. Make sure the assemble is hooked up. Also just do the same thing on the other side to see how it is sopose to look.

Seatbelts are a tamper proof safety component.

    Meaning...

If you take it apart, It WILL NOT function when re-assembled. This is so that any part that is even close to being defective is re-installed in a car.

Often times, If a seat belt over-retracts to a certian set point. It will jam itself and will not function as well.

What specifically did you take apart?

specifically, the front passenger side seatbelt assembly (all). however i put it back and it still functions, still holds u back after hard braking, and still retracts 50% back. yes, i'm an idiot...can this possibly be fixed by toyota (ouch) ??

Yes, I think Toyota will fix that, there is a lifetime warranty on seatbelts (?), not sure but in 2002 I took my '97 to Toyota cus the seatbelt locked up at the slightest, weakest tug, andthey fixed it for free. I guess all you should do is to try as much as possible to make it look like you weren't fucking with it b4 you take it to Toyota
