    OEM paint?

Like startika I was bored with no vvti and cc or corolla-racing weren't cutting it... so i decided to fix my right rear panel that had some dents and chips on it and was primed for like last 4 months :p

    I:
    -sanded it
    -smootherd it with 600 sandpaper
    -primed it
    -re primed it
-used duplicolor sandy metallic for toyota models 1993 - 1997(closest match to my 3k9)
-clear coated everything in nice warm sun so i almost get the perfect mirror effect

all that work and the color is off... its kinda light and bit too yellow, I know my car has been fading since its 8 years old but this Dupli color is not OEM color despite what they say on the can....

anyone knows who can provide me with canned(spray can) OEM 3k9 paint for my 1995?

Sometimes the color of your primer sealer can affect the end result of the color as well. Depends on the base color you're working with.

Also when you sand you really only need to use 320 before sealing. :)

did you get it from the dealership? if not, try there, they might have to order it but they'll probably have it.

Go to a paint shop and have them colormatch a pint of paint. This will be the only way that you will get a true approximation to the color your car has now. OEM paint will not match anymore due to the age of the old paint, and even the colormatched paint won't be perfect either, but closer.

true... my silver 2001 has 3 different shades of silver. nothing you can distinguish from afar but if you look closely you'll notice.

    you'd be surprised...

Had a friends truck, subaru wrx blue - used a dark gray sealer and put a couple coats on. Paint looked dark and pretty. About a year later he shaves his door handles and this time uses a light gray sealer and paint from the original can he painted from before. Even after 3 coats it was VERY noticable that the color he just sprayed was WAY lighter.

However like some others have said, matching Toyota paint is a bitch.

haha, even the super white touch up paint we use on our 93 corolla looks differnt, but that might be because it's so old.

the color code is on your door or near the door step on the drivers side, there is like a sticker with a bar code you engine code, and a lotta stuff and there is the paint code as well that's why i know that my rolla is 3k9

Can anyone tell me what the paint code is for my 01? It's black with a nice metallic flake that you only see when it's nice and clean.
