    New Sub, any suggestions?

Hey all, well my sub blew recently and I'm now looking for a new one that can stand up to my amp ( JBL BP 1200.1 ).

Does anyone know of a good 10" sub that can handle 600W @ 4 Ohms or 1200@2? I was thinking about a JL or an RF Power Stage 2 although both are quite expensive.

Do you know of any good ones that can keep up with those power ratings?

The RF 10's (punch 2 or punch3) can both handle the power you're looking at. I get a discount on stereo equipment where I work and if you're interested and willing to pay the shipping for it I can check what my price would be.

theres lots of subs that can handle that. how much do you want to spend? fyi, bp1200's are stable to 1 ohm if theyre not mounted in a position where they can overheat.

Get Either Two 12" L5's Or L7's, Or Two 10" L5's Or L7's. They Sound Really Good With A Pheonix Gold 1200.1 Amp. I HAVE THEM IN MY TUNDRA AND THEY SOUND AWSOME. I CAN GET A SET OF TWO 12" L5'S FOR $400

Since you went with a mid-range amp are you looking for mid-range subs as well? What did you have in there before and why did you blow them? How much are you looking to spend?

I beg to differ on the RF's. They may not be the best, but they're damn good in the car.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I'm looking to spend between $200 and $300 for a "good" sub. I know that you can get higher quality, higher priced units so I don't want a top of the line speaker but I rather something just below that mark (maybe last year's model) that can give me good sound consistently through the various types of music I listen to (e.g. Rap, rock, dance, etc.) where the bass can be "muddy" or crisp.

The sub that I had before was a Polk/Momo MM2104 that was rated at 300W RMS at 4 Ohms. I didn't set the gains properly and hadn't finished the break in period before I turned the volume up.

was gonna get me a 12 inch RF punch sub that cost like 75 bucks... but when i was testing and comparing it with a 12 inch 300 watt pioneer sub (69 bucks) in a band pass box at best buys.. the pioneer had good bass clarity and feedback... if your bent on RF punch, you'll need the one that costs like $ 250 for one sub only :(

I got ONE kicker 12" L7 powered by 700watt amp...and it's LOOOOOOUD. It's 1500watts max so I'm sure it can handle that amp. I would recommend this sub to anybody that wants some serious bass.
