That's what I've got, but it really depends on what kind of audio you're looking for. A Soundblaster Live 5.1 will sound just as good as an Audigy 2 ZS depending on the speaker setup you have. Heck, unless you're listening to high fidelity audio (aka uncompressed, non-mp3), it almost won't make any difference on a high-end speaker system either.

naw midi sound is the same through whatever It was designed to come through your PCs internal speaker (MONO Style) and your Phones original ring tones where all midi. so basically midi will sound the same through phone or your 2000 doller HIFI setup

Yeah, it won't make a diff. for midi, and wave files you download off websites.. you mean like sound bytes? I doubt those are hi-fi, so i'm gonna say no it won't make a difference.

It WILL make a difference, lets say, if you had an expensive speaker setup, and you wanted your dvd's to sound crystal clear. (expensive speaker setup = non-pc speakers, running through some kind of receiver or amplifier to a high-end home theatre).

I heard good things about the Santa Cruz card. But SB Live's go for what, 25 bucks now?

Before you spend your money on a new sound card make sure u're speakers are up to the task. It sometimes make the world of a difference changing your speakers to a better setup as a higher end 2.1 setup vs a cheap 2 speaker setup that came with the computer. But if you already have a good speaker setup I would go with the soundblaster cards.

I am currently a running the Logitech Z-2200 THX series with a soundblaster audigy2 OEM sound card. I originally was using the onboard sound and it was a night a day difference when I changed to the audigy card. I would get lower bass tones, higher highs, and the stereo seperation was much better (good for gaming).
