you mean the 6 speed for the 2zz-ge or what? If its the 2zz-ge I don't think they fit the same, and on top of that it doesn't line up right I believe.

i think it "fits" or bolts up fine, but doesn't line up correctly.

dont listen to these bums...if u want six gears...fuckin pay the money and get six gears. Only problem is...ull never use the sixth gear wen racing. U need to get a celica gt ecu so u can use a higher set speed limiter

Or just take out the governor period and not deal with the speed limiter.

i can see a point to it. If he decides to invest a lot of money on a wild cam and a custom computer to control vvti that'll create a sharp load of hp around 5500-8000rpm :)

prknlotpmp : the reason everyone is downplaying the idea is because the 1zz doesn't have that narrow band of power that's in the 2zz's extra lift

6 speeds is not needed in the corolla. it is not even needed in the celica gts or matrix xrs (owned an xrs). the 6th gear was really not needed at all when i had my car. a better 5spd would of been better.

dude it would be chipper to customize the 5th gear so that it would be have higher speed limit than to change the whole transmittion and the shifting lines and all that crap!! any ways a 6 spd tans is only going to make ur car to start slower. the gear ratios are too big.

ask quaife to make their gr6 5 speed dogbox (if even possible) fit on your car. It will be quicker, maybe cheaper, and more fun with the slamming of the gears.

of course u're not gonna use the 6th gear when racing, u almost never use 4th gear, and never 5th gear when racing either. I don't know the gearings of teh 5sd and 6spd, but i'd bet that the 1-3 gears are better than the 1-3 gears on the 5spd.

Ok like I said before a corolla isn’t a fast car out of the box. I can’t name one 6 speed out of the box that is slow. A 5 speed is perfect for a normal corolla. It is not necessary.

The reason manufacturers put a 6 speed gearbox in cars (or even 7 gears) is to keep the motor in its sweet spot (where it has most of its hp and torque in the powerband). Have you ever raced your car on track and had to downshift to take and turn and when u're out of the turn you rpm's are too low and it takes years to for it to get back into the area where your motor makes most of its power? Manufacturers don't just add another gear to a 5spd tranny and say "Here a New 6spd TRANNY!" The first 5 gears are geared shorter and the last gear becomes your overdrive gear. The gears are geared specifically for that motor and only that motor (so putting a 6spd 2zz-ge tranny in a 1zz-fe will not give you much of a benifet unless u changed the gears to help benifit the 1zz-fe powerband) Also more gears only helps in track racing not in drag racing.

Also when people say that oh this person/company/raceteam only uses a 5 speed tranny in there race car this is not totally true. Its really a 6 speed tranny without the 6th gear (overdrive gear). All gears are geared lower so they use all gears during a race.

    Better Suggestion

I have a 2zz motor turbocharged with a 6speed manual. After I finish the motor and had it dynoed I took the dyno sheet to a transmission shop and told them I want the gears calibrated to the best horsepower performance. As long as your building the tranny you can always have the tranny gears calibrated to your engine specs for best performance. Remember everyone the gears ratios in the 6speed 2zz is closer for better acceleration.

wow - you're only the 2nd guy i know to have turbo'd a 2zz. be careful if you're running stock internals - it WILL blow. 11.5:1 compression and turbocharging don't get along. My friend turbo'd his 2zz when he swapped it into his corolla. Blew a rod right through the head, along with various pieces of the number 3 piston lol. Then he went 8.5:1 forged pistons, billet connecting rods, etc.. and ran 12s in an auto tranny corolla. Was a beast till he got in a wreck on the way to meet us at hot import nights. Rolled it twice. Needless to say it is no more :(

Anyway, what are the specs on your engine so far? What did it dyno? PSI? Internals? I need answers!! lol

    I'm under 4000rpm in 5th gear at 100mph..you don't really need a higher gear..

Closer ratios wouldn't be too bad, though..
