No love, I did have a Celi ECU (from before we started dating). It's kinda lost somewhere in the garage. It did make a difference, but it was incompatible with the transmission, namely reverse gear.

Back to topic(although I wont mind a cookie:(
Vamp Ive got both 1zz ECU's- 01 M/T Celica and Corolla. Has anyone ever changed the e-prompt chips like they do in Honduh ECU's? If no Im thinking of a slice-in w/ main switch to go back and forth. Its 47 pinouts each. Im gonna make my ride think its a celica. Any tricks or things I might need to know?

so was the problem with reverse just for the automatic? i have a manual, so if i get the celica gt ecu for a manual version and stick it in my car, then there should be no problems right?

    thanks for the help

I haven't heard of anyone trying to swap chips. It would be interesting if that worked. The only think I've heard of was changing to crystals to raise the speed limiter, but that's about it.

As for the reverse issue... well... there was no reverse gear. Also, it shifted from 1st to 2nd funny sometimes. You won't be able to just get the manual Celica ECU and stick it in the Corolla because the harnesses won't match up.

Oh, and my girl cooks for me :)

( i would ask an electrician!!you know they might know a thing or two about that!!).

You could program the ECU to remove the eliminator. You could also cut a wire to remove it as well. Don't know which wire though.
