newbie to body work/dents/paint, etc

hey guys,

i have accumulated some damage to my 98 over the years. i have scratches in my paint, rock chips near the side skirts, dings, dents, paint chips, and some damage on the front bumper (my car is black and there are white scuffs on the front right end with a small crack.) These are all minor things, but i'd like to get them fixed one day.

im wondering, whats the best option to get this all fixed?

what is a body shop? is that where i would go?
or do i go to a detail shop? whats that?
are there shops that specialize in just dings and dents?

im pretty much wondering how do i make my exterior look like new again? and what would the cost be roughly.

Dood I have ur same problem except my car is white and has black chips and what not in them lol well for that man I would suggest body shop man except u have experience in body work and blah blah blah and have the tools...the only problem with shops is that they KILL YOU with their prices it's insane.... I'm gonna do mine through insurance in a couple of months hehehe ...don't u love when u work ur way around the system???
