    successful meets?

what would you say makes a successful meet?

i have befriended a VERY new club in Baltimore, and they're having their usual growing pains...i'm trying to help them as much as possible, but i need some help.

what sorts of things do you think shouldn't be permitted at meets? should there be a set of rules of conduct? how should rulebreakers be handled?

what sorts of things would you want to happen at a meet? if you were the hosting club, and invited other groups, how would you handle these outside groups?

any and all suggestions are appreciated :)

most important thing to do at meets is make sure to act appropriately, cops will look for a group of "hooked up" cars and see trouble, make sure there arent people doing donuts. burnouts turnin up the bass and shit like that, if its peacefull and no1's being bothered there will be no reason for anyone to complain

Would you like to plan and cordinate one of (and maybe) the biggest Corolla meets on the East Coast?... Then have nobody else back you up with enforcing rules?

There may not be one this year. One of the reasons is actually a good point for Laura.

    Mods + Police

I don't want to have un-expected company in the form of the police and I don't wouldn't want the guilt of people(me included) getting mod tickets at a meet I planned. Cops are only getting more strict in Fairfax and Montgomery Counties (where we would likely have the meet).

The BIGGEST problem is making people obey the guidelines. You really have no ability to force them to leave if they don't and nobody wants the ensueing "drama".

Here's what I suggest, make the meet INVITE ONLY. Only bring in those people whose maturity level is higher when around others. IF there is a Seneca this year, thats the likely method of attendence.

A strict set of rules/guidelines might be a good idea as well..for example, make sure everybody is clear up front that loud stereos, burnouts, sirens, etc are prohibited. If you end up with a couple people seriously making a problem, you could call the police -- but that could get messy really quick.

if you post rules.. big sign at the gate hand out fliers, then if you do have to call the cops then there is very little chance of the thrower to get in trouble. the only thing I can think of is that if a cop shows up there might be a mad dash or what not.

this is assuming there are shows, guys...this club, right now, is small...and they're trying to AVOID getting huge. keep that in mind. the Seneca meet was a massive thing...this is just a little club...heh.

There shouldn't be, unless alot of people aren't 'behaving' -- it might actually be better if a troublemaker or two takes off, and everybody else sticks around and explains the situation to the officer(s).

Yea, i agree completely, meets gotta be orderly. There arent really meets here in Tulsa, but more like big gatherings and everyone here is pretty respectable so the cops leave us alone. The other night i stumbled by one of the meets and across the street at the hotels were some cops just watchin them, probably waiting for them to do something stupid. And the thing about inviting, im not too sure about that but make sure a bunch of your friends go then make it a completely open thing that way if someone does get outta hand, you can just get a bunch of your friends to help you out and kick the guy outta there. Although id like to go to one, ive never been to a planned meet before but these are just my suggestions..

If you're keeping it small (just with people you know), you'll probably be fine..just hang out, tell people not to be stupid, etc. :)

thats kinda what I ment. but I did go to one where people bailed even tho they were behaving because rumors float throught meets (at least here in denver) much like high school. but I guess thats just a one time thing. so my bad

also try to choose a lot thats kinda out of the way, cus from meets ive been too, the "ricey-er" side of fellow tuners comes out when they see a group of cars, you guys might be behaving but random goons in vehicles will drive by you doing burnouts and turnin up the bass, and that just draws attention

not with this club...though they have rather irregular meets, which isn't terribly conducive to club unity during shows(which is an issue i've already brought up with the prez and vp)
