I Need Help, I Feel Like A *$**%&( Yeah I Messed Up Installing My El Gauges.

Hey everyone, (I guess my Rolla days ain't over ugh) I hella messed up installing my el gauges, uggh on the centers before I went over Vamp's online DIY, I actually removed the stock one, and I killed the calibration and the needles are all at high speed and revs when I start the car and they just sit there ugh (my car now idles at "5K" and "30-50mph") I feel like an idiot, I can't believe I did this, and was wondering if I can just switch out the digital odometer and thermometer on my cluster and put them into a newer (used) one, so I can still read the same mileage, and so I can also correctly slip the el guages over it. And I was wondering which positive red wire I should also solder the positive wire of the el gauges too. I am soooo freakin out, I appreciate any solutions. Please feel free to e-mail me at orehman@msn.com. Thank you everyone! I LOVE THIS FORUM.

Yeah, buy a new cluster off eBay. What year is your car? There was someone selling a whole bunch on eBay for about $50 each for 98-02's not too long ago. If they haven't sold or aren't posted, search completed auctions. Good luck, not hard to fix though. Buy a set of gauges with lower milage than your car, haha.

its a pain and 10 times harder but youll have to remove your odometer and get a new cluster to keep your mileage correct. The temperature one doesnt need to be removed if you buy a cluster with a temp sensor already.

The other option is to bring it into a mechanic and they can recalibrate those gauges for you. I dont know how much that will cost you however...

think of it this way.. if you get a ticket then get them fixed and when you go to court show them the paper saying it was off and you get off usually LoL... but yeah a new cluster will probably be the cheapest option

CaptainCorolla-Yeah there are quite a few for sale, and it's my car is an 01 too, ugh I feel so bad tho, cuz I effed it up it was gonna be a trade in for a prius after I would have "successfully" completed it. But now I will have to get it recalibrated and I heard dealers can recalibrate it for you? Is it possible? Ugh, how much of a pain would it be to take out the odometer and put it into a new one? Would it involve desoldering and soldering. Ugh I make so many mistakes, I am still like a newbie. I feel like a diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiips...tick. :(

Haha my buddy at ASU Renfield90 hooked me up, he said turn it on, not to where the car is idling, but to where the electrical system turns on, wait a minute and then mount the needles, worked great. But I think I am going to get rid of my el gauges anyways, and freakin get a S speedo, and just note the difference in mileage for oil changes and stuff. I also found just the speed gauge, cuz my little needle broke when I was ignorantly taking off the that. But I think I am just going to change the look by changing the gauge. I guess my rolla days ended, and started back up again haha. Cuz it is worth NOTHING in a trade in.
