Well, I have a 2000 Celica GT-S. I am not hitting lift because my lift bolt is broken off and is lodged somewhere, and I can't put a new lift bolt in the shaft because it rotated, and I cannot get the shaft out for money! Not even rotate it. So after I pay off the 2000 dollar loan I have out for my car, I am going to do something to it to make it a pretty quick N/A setup. I just can't figure out what I wanna do.

a) rebuild the head and put racing cams in it and such.
b) do a motor swap, but I dono of any motors that will fit in there that compare as well as the 2zz.

My engine has 100k miles on it right now by the way, what do you guys think?

Bolt-ons, maybe upgraded valve springs/retainers, decent cams. Should yield good results.

OR just leave it be and pick up a good car you can afford to blow up.

2zz is it on that car. There's a TSB on those bolts.

These engines aren't cheap BTW. Personally, I'd leave it be and find something that's cheaper to build and will turn out good numbers.

Im well aware of the TSB on the bolts, but my car is out of warranty. I read that .pdf, I took off my valve cover, and I couldn't remove the shaft for anything... I took off the cam and cam gears, tried pushing it from both ends.

How much do you think that toyota would charge for a new head on that car?

If you can't get the shaft out, you're best bet is making fast friends with a Toyota tech whose done a bunch of these lift bolt repairs. It's really not too bad once you've done a few, from what I hear. You can give that shaft a fairly good wallop so long as the punch is roughly the same size as the shaft itself.

Or, you can try a salvage yard....but you could end up with a polished turd.

I tried man!! smacking it out both ways, no cigar... Maybe im doing somethingwrong, but I really don't think so, it's really lodged in there!! But the Toyota techs around her I don't know. I used to drive a VW, and I had a close friend. But I'm not sure how knowledgeable they are. When they do repair, they mainly go by book don't they?
