The Toyota Corolla hasn't stirred passion since the AE86, so it's forgivable to greet an all-new version with a yawn. The Corolla recipe has been refined to the point of grand success for so long now that changes must be approached carefully. A new version must not upset the car's combination of refinement, value, and durability. To be sure, the 2009 Corolla is likely to continue the model's grade point average full of red circles from Consumer Reports. Objectively, it's tough to top - subjectively, not so much.

Well the last generation of the XRS versus the LE or even S wasn't really that different. What did they want? A Celica Action Package? Lol.

i disagree... my '05 XRS has a soul similar to my '85 GTS. the 2zzge mated to the c60 trans is day and night compared to the now lame 10thgen XRS with its weak 2azfe and 5speed or auto trans. plus i absolutely love that i own 1 of only 6600 9thgen corolla XRS in the entire world.

There was a Camargo Way sign in another part of South Denver I really wanted to swipe when I had my old F-Body. I refrained, lol.

Anyways, sorry for the temporary off-topic there. Back to the '09 XRS. :ninjastea

I won't touch anything with a 2AZ-FE unless it's the Camry which it belongs in. :D

I completely agree with every word... But the question is: what toyota car (after the last Supra) actually "fills" anyone out of the factory?

I thought the XRS only came automatic?

I've seen so many of these already...or maybe just the type S. I think it looks much more better than any other year corolla.

There is no Type S. It is not a Honda. It's a Corolla S.

Si senor. I think the 05-06 XRS is only "not that different" to S owners who didn't wanna pony up the extra couple grand, lol. It's head and shoulders above the mini Camry 10th gen.

OT, Were there only 6600? I had heard almost 10,000....and 7,500....and 8,000, lol.

I think 6600 is accurate. Maybe they were counting the ones taken off the road from accidents. LOL :D

wow, that few huh? We've got 4 phantom grays, 1 white and 1 red one that I know of here in town. There's a 2-3 more reds here that I've not seen, but heard about. I figured there were more.

I think the sales were concentrated in certain areas more than some others. Closer to suburban or downtown locations.
