    $1700.00?

Me personally....well, I think I'd use that as a decent start to the "new baller car" fund.

Save the $1700, sell your car, and put a decent downpayment on a newer car...

I like the thought of keeping the rolla. Having a backup/dd car is really nice. I think it would be better if you kept her as is, and get a weekend car. But then what would happen to the body kit? ebay maybe?

Or a wife and kids... :D

You need a better platform. You can put the Corolla up on a pedestal, but in the end it's never going to match a Supra.

This community sucks. It seems like every other thread is about somebody wanting to get rid of their rollas and then half the people respond by saying "yes you should." Why does a corolla community even exist if all we do is tell other rolla owners to not modify their cars.

    BTW dibs on the hood.

I say keep the rolla the way it is and get a newer car. And if you need a good person to deal with on car parts, let me know. My boy works at Kelley's in Bladensburg and they got good deals on rims, hids, neons, alarms, etc, etc.

I assume that you own the Corolla free and clear (ie, no payments) - I'd keep the Corolla as is and save the money for a rainy day. Dumping it into another car sounds like a fun idea - but you have to ask yourself if you want to take on additional debt. It sounds like from the wording of your post of "wasting" money on the Corolla - that you have already made up you mind to dump the car for something else. You could always opt to do the work yourself and pocket the $1000 and use that money to spend on yourself - maybe pickup a better computer or laptop, clothes, new game console, etc.

It's just not sensible to spend so much on a Corolla that won't be as fast as something else stock from the factory. Sure, fixing up a Corolla is fun but it shouldn't be entire life goal of an individual. Think of the Corolla as a gateway car to the next best thing. In order to be automotive enthusiasts, we have to strive for a better goal each time to feel the excitement and pride. I mean look at it realistically. Corollas are fun to drive, but sometimes you just want a little something more. :) btw I'm still keeping my rolla even when I get my Subie.

the corolla is not a car that every one dreams of having. it's a commuter car. most of the time a corolla is the first car someone can afford or it's a car that is handed down to kids or family members and some people just keep it longer than others. my first car i bought was a corolla when i was 18 and it was just the only car i thought i could afford at the time. almost 10 years later i would never own a corolla since i can afford must nicer cars. actually, if i was to have kids i would buy them a corolla.

:)There is never a good car out there to invest your money in .... I dont care what type of car you have wether it is new or old .... Your never gonna get what you put in a car.... My advice is if there aint nothing wrong with your car put the kit on it and change those rims ...... Keep that car cause there are alot of people who love that style and in about 5 more years when more and more of those cars disapper like the 80 rollas...... you will see a bigger want for that body style.....:)

I love my rolla, but I know I'm gonna love my new Subie as well. I'm keeping both so I can enjoy both.

    Fcuking a!

I can just sense the pessimism here. Which is why I hardly post here anymore.

My advice to the OP is if you love it, keep it and spend the money on it.

The pessimism comes from hitting the glass ceiling for platform potential. After you've had it long enough, you'll come to realize it. I still love the rolla, but I'm not going to spend an enormous amount to attempt to make it a fast car. The Corolla can only be a quick car at most, not fast. All the bolt ons in the world still barely make a difference. A turbo would be the only option and that is temperamental at best.
