    front driver side brake!!

I was driving and I noticed that the front driver side brake is seizing up on me. After a while I can smell the burning from the disc brake and when I look at it, the disc is red hot. What do I need to do? Why is it seizing up??

try lubing the caliper slides, and check for random debris and clean it all up...

if none of that works u need a caliper, cuz ur piston is prolly locking up

You could get a rebuilt caliper relatively cheap. My guess is the pins just need to be lubed up and gunk cleaned off the piston's dust boot.

Okay, well I'm waiting now - after dropping it off at a Kost auto place. Let's see if they try to rip me a new one with some elaborate shit. They said they needed 2 hours to look at it and they'll give me a call.

I think they tried to play me before when they said I needed a new inner tie rod or the control arm but I only went back because its the closest to campus and I can just walk back and wait on campus.

    Keep ya guys updated.

For the record - when I drove it this morning, I looked at the two front rotors and the passenger side was good, the disc surface was clean because it was cleaned off when i used the brakes but the surface of the driver side disc was still dirty, like brake dust was smeared in a circular motion or something.

vibebreaker added 25 Minutes and 22 Seconds later...

so i got a call and said that the piston in the caliper is locked up.

i need a new caliper. i need a new rotor because it warped and brake pad.

the guy quoted me $609 and that includes labor.. sigh.
