I have a streetpilot III in my car. It works ok but it takes forever to calculate routes. The new ones are better but still too slow. Also, garmin map updates cost ~$80 .. they come out with a new version once per year. Overall if you need a portable GPS I'd get a C340 because it has the spoken street names. my SPIII I barely use the screen even because you don't have time to look at it while driving, the voice prompts are actually the most important part of the gps.

I would not buy one again however, because I want something that can recalculate routes quickly. Instead I would opt for spending that money on a complete carPC and run ms streets & trips with a usb/bluetooth gps unit.

how much do those cost?? the c330 is on ebay for like 140 and ive bought from the guy before so i trust him.

    description is:
It's in great shape. Very small, and easy to use. Comes with the mount and lighter power plug. Very clean, never dropped, no visible scratches. Comes with the latest V8 North America maps installed.

You should try getting a good quality PDA / Pocket PC and install your GPS software on the side. the mounts for our corolla are pretty cheap. Check out ProClips USA.
