future of mine or any1 elses corolla...

so heres the story its been about a year and half with my corolla and most of mods have been cosmetics upgrades. i.e headlights, talights, grill, touch screen head unit, springs ,rimgs ,gauges, . anyways i wanted to start engine mods but some1 brought something to my attention . no matter how much money i do to engine work it will be no where near fast unless i put some serious money. so my friend posed the question do u really want to spend more on a automatic four door family sedan? he said ive dont a great job with the cosmetics upgrades and just putting money in the engine is useless. upgrading my car has taken alot of cash . so i pose the question do u feel the same way? as i think i will officially stop modding my corolla....

I know exactly how you feel... some days I feel like dumping the cash for an engine and transmission swap, other days I look at my and the little rust bubbles starting in a few area, the mileage on the car itself, all the little things that would have to be replaced to make the car show worthy... and it just doesn't make sense to spend that much cash on the car... especially since I plan on going to university in the fall, it would be smarter for me to just do maintenance on my car, finish university (Civil Engineer), and hopefully get a decent job afterwards and buy something faster and sportier when i'm done

There's enough parts to make my 03 a really good car. I like my car, and hope to finish my suspension by the end of the summer. It might not be the absolute best car to mod, but there's enough to have something special.

    Plus, I like the +30mpg.

i hear you guys...and cant deny i feel the same somethime... but i actually enjoy doing my own mods and enjoy every single mod after im done... we do have a family mid-size sedan... but hey i'd pic my rolla over any civic/lancer/protege/etcc/etcc/etcc/etcc hell a whole lot of other cars... i do plan to get something sportier and nicer like a 350z but in the mean time i gotta enjoy what i have :p:D

I'm pretty sure we all feel the same way about this man. I've spent too much money to stop on my car and I just love it so much. Luckily I know people that can get me the parts for a swap for a great price and people to install it with their eyes closed. All I need is the money. :( Right now I also need to do some maintenance to the car like engine mounts and cv joints and stuff. I just wonder how much longer will I be able to get my car to run fast enough to where I get scared when I floor it.

while i have enjoyed working on this car, i've done nothing beyond make it a more enjoyable daily driver...and that's the bottom line. i won't be doing any internal work, because i don't see the point. if i were to get a car and dump that kind of money into it, it'll be RWD and have at least a V6, if not a V8.

Vortex has a pretty quick rolla, and it's only getting quicker..

I still might turbocharge mine, since I'll probably be able to (easily) afford it in a year or two..but I'm not 100% sure yet. It's peppy already..but not fast. :)

well, thats how i felt with my 97 automatic rolla. it was just showing it's age, it has 92k miles and it had some water damage to it, so i figured, if i wanted to do any engine mods, i might as weel get a new engine...everything soon started falling apart on the car, so, i decided it's best to let someone else have it. i still have the car, i just have to sell it. i won't be sad letting it go, but i do love that car
so, my new car will take its place, theres no comparison between an auto 97 rolla and a stick shift tC. i had to draw a line somewhere, to stop modding and dumping money into my old ride.

You can go back to stock and then drive around for a week and want it all back again. If I was you I'd leave what I have on the car and just stop adding things to it. Unless you don't like the mods you have already done...Your car looks great and it'd be a shame to turn it back to stock...IMO

i feel you all. back in october i was about done with the car, i had done pretty much everything possible, but boost. but then i just happened to be in the right place at the right time. a lot of you know of my project "HellishMantis". its kind of a wonderful thing knowing i am the only one with this setup on my car.....i know shyguy has a 2zz swap also, but i got the 5 lug conversion. :D
but it kinda got me back into it, and im glad. i really love my 180+ hp grocery getter.

when i hit the lotto my car will be fast lol...of course i would want my car to be fast but that is just too much money and its also risking the life of the car..show mods i dont mind because it makes the car look nice and doesnt affect the engine life.

The only reason that I'm gettin a corolla here in a couple of days again is cuz u don't see this cars modded every day... corolla's are somethin unique man I would keep it if I was u.... u never kno man u might hit the lotto or win a law sue or somethin u kno... I kno I'm doin all kinds of cuztom sh!t to mine when I get it.... I'm already approved for a $30,000 all I need is to get the car and I'm gonna dump some serious stuff in it. My inspiration would be Vortex man.... he's the only one here in Colorado smokin ppl in his corolla and I'm not??? hellz nah man I need to join the club hehehe

yur all wimps - just go for it... jk :)

i feel like just sayin to hell with it sometimes, but then i'm all out driving and i just couldn't imagine walking away from my rolla. lol it's like a love/hate relationship... once I finish my motor upgrade and put on my bodykit, i'm done with it for a long while i think, mainly due to the fact that I *need* to finish my 69 Z28's restoration... it got put on the backburner indefinitely due to my wreck last November, sucked. all the same though, i'll never part with the rolla.

I'm thinking of the same, just have some money saved up, and when my engine starts dying, swap in a 4AGE Smallport and 5 Speed swap. My lowering springs finally came in, so my car should be lowered in about 3 weeks now, maybe 4...

40K on the bottom end, 0 on the head (motor1)
113K on bottom and top end (motor2)

motor 2 however will be getting a nice overhaul with larger bore, etc...
motor 1 i'm not sure what i'm going to do with it, maybe just beef it up as it is being a 1.8... dunno yet... havent really thought about it :)
