    New Tires!

    So here's the story:

About 3 weeks ago, I got a nail in my rear passenger tire. :(
I took it down to a local shop and got it patched up, and everything was peachy...... until Friday night....
I got into my car, and apparently, I'd run over a screw now... in the same tire.....:mad: Anywho, the tire was flat, so I put the spare on and ordered some new tires:

I decided it'd be better to just order a whole new set of tires. I used to have Yokohama AVS es100's on my car, but the treadlife just wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. The Generals have a treadware rating of 380. Much better than the Yoko's.
AAAAANYWHO, I finally got them in (yes, I drove around for 3 days on the spare). The worst part about waiting that long was the fact that between home, work, and school, I drive ~75 miles daily. That's a TON of miles for a spare!
Well, I've now driven about 60 miles on them, and I'm already loving them more than the Yoko's. The ride is smoother, quieter, and the tires seem to be stickier. Much better for braking and cornering (I drive along some twisty backroads going home every day), and they seem to grab the pavement better when I start moving from a stop. They really are that good, IMO. If anyone's looking for good tires, these are DEFINITELY worth a look into.

I give 'em an 8/10 (mainly because I haven't had them on long enough to give a detailed evaluation).

    Enjoy, fellow Toyota-heads. :)

You can run the 205/50/15's like I am. You would maintain the same diameter. It's actually better since it's a little wider. Bigger footprint = more traction! :D You might rub a bit though unless you roll the fenders.

50's are fine. I hit potholes all the time and I have no wheel damage at all. 50 isn't that low profile. If it was 35 and lower, I would be worried.

for my street tires on the corolla and on the wifes car ive used falken ziex512 exclusively and have had zero issues. im more used to the azenis on the corolla so the sidewall wasnt as stiff with the ziex, but it handled just fine and never showed signs of wear even from an agressive alignment and lots of wheel spin. they were an upgrade from the stock crap on the wifes hyundai elantra... so zero downside to putting them on. they made her car ride smoother and feel less numb when driving "spirited" plus they come with a 400+ treadwear and come on any size you can imagine.

I would actually only consider the Falken Azenis RT-615's. I've heard you can run the tires underinflated since the sidewalls are so stiff and reinforced.

I used to run RT215's back in they days.. now those sidewalls are crazy stiff.

I have the 512's on my steelies and Kumho MX on my rims.. will be switching back to the RT's this winter after I finish killing my MX'es. Falken tires are always the best bang for the buck but I got the Kumhos dirt cheap after being sponsored by Kumho for a season.

I :heart my tires! These are from the day I got them on. I like the wheels too. I noticed a huge difference in them the moment I started driving. It was such a relief. Anyway here is a picture, like I said, the day I got them, before I cleaned them SUPER good. :)

the new azenis are great tires... but i wouldnt recommend them for a daily driver. they wear out quicker than a normal tire, and when they wear out you had better watch out because they become dangerous to drive on.
