red cigarette lighter ring 01-02 S

another sub $1 mod. from the LE to S conversion thread -- repost:

required: red file folder label plastic, scissors, 2 hands

    1. pull the lower panel off
    2. remove the wires & bulbs, twist the cigarette lighter bulb then it comes right out then the black plastic cover comes off, then the black cover under that leaving you with a white piece of plastic and the metal tube, pull out the metal part of the lighter. The ashtray bulb has to be pulled straight out.. nothing happens if you twist it.
    3. remove the clear plastic ring, place about an inch long piece of red plastic in there and reinstall the clear ring.
    4. remove the green piece of rubber from the light bulb (so now it is white and will appear red with the film)
    5. reassemble.

haha I wonder what else you can light up red with this method? I know you can do turn signal lights. I've done that before with real red dash cover slips I jacked from the auto yard. I changed it back to green though.

only thing left in my car to switch is the a/c control box.. but that's a difficult swap to do. Only other thing I can think of would be red map lights and a disco ball

You should be careful when you take the bulbs out for the A/C control box. I remember messing something up. It's tough to do. Once you get to it, all you neeed to do is spray it red.
