    selling modified cars

I'm planning on selling my car this spring and I was wondering how much money some other people have got for their modified cars. I know a lot of people say mods don't add value but it seems to me a private party seller should be able to get more for a car with a system then without. Anyone got ideas how much mine would be worth? 1993 dx with 75,000 miles.

well it depends on the mods, scratches, dings, mechanical problems etc u kno. But well considering that the car is flawless I'd say somewhere around 8G's or so would be good....but again it all depends on the condition of the car and the mods.

Is it in excellent condition? Maybe $3500..

    Edit:
    $8000 for a '93?? I must've missed something..does it have $10,000 into it?

    I can get a clean '94 4x4 V6 4Runner with leather, CD, sunroof, etc for 6k..

You'll get more money by going back to stock and selling the parts.

In a lot of cases, I see modified cars going for cheaper than stock because unless it was done by a professional, we don't know how good of a job you did. I see a lot of stuff about zipties and double sided tape on modification forums.

whoops my bad lol I meant to say 6 G's lol I hit the wrong key...... my friend sold his 93 civic hb with a built H22a swap and LSD tranny, turbonetics t3 turbo set up, mugen lip kit, wheels, brembo brake system and other inside goodies for like $11,500....that car was in perfect shape. He spent like 13 G's in it.

The rule of thumb that I go by is:

A modified car is worth less to a typical consumer
A modified car is worth more to someone who wants exactly (yes, exactly) those modifications done

And maintenance items don't make a car more valuable.

And $6000 is WAAAAYYY too much for a '93 Corolla, unless you have a Formula Atlantic 4AGE in it...

WORD. My friend bought an integ and he was trying to say that it's worth a little more because he changed the timing belt, oil, flush, and all that stuff.

I told the guy that you don't do that to increase the value of your car. You do that to keep the value of the car at the value of the car.

I sold my '98 with 80K miles for 5300 and it was back to stock except for the TRD kit and rims. I wanted 6500 but no one would give that much.

i dunno im guessing that the average consumer doesnt want a modded car, because they associate modded cars with trouble and youth who are usuallly the ones who fuck up cars, especially engine work,, and the consumer who wants mods, usually wants to do his or her own mods,

I traded in my 00 ve with 64k miles on it for $6,000, still have all the mods. Then I saw it on the paper that they were selling it for $8,900.

I sold my '91 Corolla LE several years back for $750. A couple years later I saw it being advertised for sale by the guy for $1400. I called and asked about it... he said it was worth more now because he replaced the alternator and the brakes.

Even though the regular consumer wants stock car. There are some people that will pay money for a custom car already cause they have no clue to do it themselves. It's possible to sell modded cars for a high price cause I got friends that buy cars and sell them higher and some of the cars he gets are really modded.

Well the thing is that not too many ppl would buy a decked out rolla since it's more of a reliable, family car than a performance, so people would look for it more as a stock car than a show or performance vehicle... or so I've asked around or seen in a few cases...

When I traded my 02 Corolla CE in to the Toyota dealership, they pretty much fell in love with the car. They told me to go home and put the stock wheels and stereo on, they wanted the body kit, exhaust, and wood dash left on. They gave me 9k for a car I owed $5,400 on. Not too shabby if you ask me.

Well so far I'm thinking of starting it at $7,500 and most likely let it go for less than that. The car is in perfect condition and all maintainence has been done recently. After adding it up I think I have about $6,000 into the car. I've had people offer to buy my car before but they probably don't actually have the money. Mostly people who don't know a whole lot about cars but are still interested in them.

Ya man all the little things do add up. I still wonder how I managed to spend 7g's on my car. I'm pretty sure I'll spend over 10g's all together soon.
