Bob Barker backs Rosie O'Donnell for 'The Price is Right'

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Bob Barker endorsed his friend Rosie O'Donnell as a possible successor on "The Price Is Right," although the newly retired host isn't sure CBS wants a woman to take over the game show.

"I believe they're going to have a meeting with Rosie," Barker said backstage Friday night at the Daytime Emmy Awards, where he won his 19th trophy.

"She knows the show," he said. "There's no doubt in my mind she could do the show. Now, whether they want a lady host, I don't know. I've never heard that discussed. As far as I know, they've only auditioned men."

Barker said his friendship with O'Donnell goes back several years, when she had him as a guest on her old daytime talk show.

"She told me she loved 'The Price Is Right' and wanted to host it one day," he recalled.

Among those mentioned as possible replacement hosts have been Todd Newton of the E! network, Mark Steines of "Entertainment Tonight," George Hamilton and John O'Hurley.

Barker retired last week at age 83 after 35 years of giving away vacations and cars on the hit CBS game show. But he said he may be back with some specials featuring vintage clips and guests.

"If it works out, I'd like to do that," he said.

Now, we all know everyone hates Rosie O'Donnell, now I have lost respect for Bob Barker. This upsets me...I grew up on The Price Is Right...ugh

she may not be the best person for the show, but i am sure everyone doesn't hate her. the video of her fight where she put one girls from the view in her place was great.

although i can carless about anyone else other then myself including rosie, why worry about what other people are going to think when she opens her mouth? the great thing about this country is to be able to speak your mind. let the "idoits" believe what she says, but why get so upset over that if they are truly idiots? are her twisted views really going to effect you and your everday life? probably not, so just live the life you have created and move on.

because her retarded oral flatulence is heard by millons and millions of people... many of them idiots... and unfortunately an abundance of those idiots are ignorant to the world and have money. those are the exact people that we (sane, concerned, proud citizens) dont want rosie barking to because they are the ones with enough disposable time and money to help rosie achieve her outrageous agendas. it can, and many times does, effect our lives in varying levels of severity.

i just don't see why people get so upset over other people and what they think. everyone has their own views, but who cares about the stupid. sure she is annoying, but no one should waste time hating her. she will eventually go away.

I don't hate her. I just think she's a waste of space. I'm not quite sure what got her panties in a twist the last year or so because I used to like her. She did a lot of good back in the day.

And yet another controversy on her part. She dressed her daughter in military garb complete with a fake belt of bullets. I wonder what kind of message she's trying to portray? I saw this on the news a couple days ago. Nobody mentioned it so I thought I would put it here.

i was mainly commenting on this thread. osama bin laden and rosie is like comparing apples to an elephant (rosie). no matter who takes over that game show even it it was bin laden, it will not be successful. bob barker had it down to a science and no one will be replicate it.
