Anyone here get Lasik eye surgery?

    How much did you pay?
    What was your recovery time?

a friend of mine paid over $3500 for her surgery. it took them 15 minutes and within 24 hours she was seeing clearly. 48 hrs later she was at 20/15.

another friend, who happens to be a pretty active guy, got his done (though i don't know the cost) and the initial recovery was quick, but he was instructed to avoid biking for 1 week and racquetball/other similar sports for up to 3 months.

My wife got it done before the wedding. Paid roughly 2k. She went in for a free exam and scheduled the surgery the week after. Depending on how bad your eyes are, it can be more expensive or less expensive or you may not be able to do it at all. Plus the type of plan you get can make a difference.

    My wife was offered this:

A plan that would cover her surgery and up to 3 years to correct any vision issues (if her vision needs to be corrected).

A plan that would cover her surgery and will cover any corrections for life (corrections are sometimes needed after so many years from what we're told).

Obviously we took the plan that allows her to correct her vision for hte rest of her life. I took her in on a Friday morning and she had it done. When she was done she was able to see the clock on the wall instantly. She had to relax as much as possible that day and not be in bright areas. I took her back on Saturday to have her checked out and her vision was pretty much almost 20/20. She was very sensitive to bright lights for about a month which they said was normal. But it doesn't happen to everyone.

The procedure itself is not long...between 15-20minutes. If interested, let me know and I can get name of the spot my wife went to. I think they have offices in MD as well.

They have a spot in B-More, Annapolis and Rockville. Regardless who you go to, its definitely worth the money. no more hassles of glasses or anything. Only hard part for me was getting used to seeing my wife without glasses..lol.

Apparently PRK is riskier, is more painful and has a longer healing time. They can also run into complications. Never heard of it until i did a search.

thank god i have perfect vision...the thought of anyone doing anything with my eyes really freaks me out. I saw an episode on TV once where they were cutting this chicks eyeball open while she was awake, I was like, fuck that, and almost threw up.

well the person is awake during lasik eye surgery. my wife says its just some discomfort really cause they numb the eyes up. Then again, they're not cutting into the eyeball directly...u must have a weak stomach..I'm the same..lol. There's only so much I can take when watching TV.

I hate going to the optometrist and they put those drops in your eye to dilate your pupils. I feel like a freak walkin around like im eyeballin everyone. I need Lasik cuz I keep braking my glasses, I hate wearing them to school or anywhere, and driving at night with glasses sucks too cuz i'm still not use to oncoming traffic headlight's being magnified into my retina...

super glue and tape work wonders on broken glasses..lol. At first I thought i wasn't worth it, but after my wife got it and saw major improvements in her vision, I would recommend it to anyone who wants it.

well, it doesn't cure clumsiness, lol. I just misplace them and sit on them or drop them or kneel on them....and everytime, I end up breaking the lens. It's happened twice and it's costly.

ill admit it, i hate anything dealing with blood, guts and needles. I think it was on the Discovery channel where the doctor was talkin to the lady and then the camera zoomed in and he cut part of her eye open, Ill admit, I almost threw up. Anytime I need to have any kind of surgery done, I opt to be put under. I had a tooth extracted and she was like, We can give you a local, I told her nooo way. I dont wanna be awake while your slicing and dicing in my mouth.
