    Tire thread wear.

My front driver side wheel has excessive wear on the inner side of the wheel. (see pic below) What puzzles me is that only that tire, out of all the four, had that symptom. The other 3 tires have perfect even thread wear. I was thinking that if I had negative camber, then both my front wheels would have the same excessive wear.

Here is what I thought of... Not a long time ago I parked in front of a glass and saw that the driver side seems to be heavier (lower) than the passenger side, but when I go out to check it looks normal. I think that has something to do with the problem. That or I just need an alignment. I will surely get it aligned when I get my suspension setup done in about a month or so...

    edit:
the tire at the top is one of the 14 steelies i have on my car now, and the one below is the 13 with tire wear.

probably just worn out suspension causing misalignment.. camber wear. Get the new stuff on and get aligned and you should be fine.

Sounds about right. You check your air pressure on a regular basis?

I hope this helps but sometimes different manufactures have different styles even though they are the same tire size doesnt mean there the same .... for example kuhmo tires are more rounded in the edges where another name brand is wider .... maybe you have two different manufactures..... I know when i replace a axle i replace two at a time .... hope that helps you some .... :)

never. the biggest accident this car has had was a bump on the hood...

and yes RinconRolla98, that helps too :p in fact come to think of it i have 3 different brands of tires. both at the back are the same brand and my fronts are different brands too... but even if the brands differ, that one tire should have worn out evenly if it didnt have problems on alignment/camber.

i really like this "thinking like a mechanic" thing and trying to figure out whats wrong.... lol....

not really unless you have a solid rear axle or a single front wishbone suspension the other tire will not wear out evenly. you said your car has an independent setup, with that said the suspension will adjust to whatever the weight is on the vehicle, simlply because the suspension will transfer the weight to where its balanced out. for instance when i have a 14 incher on one side and a 18 on the other my cars suspension will be slighty unbalanced but the rest of the car will lower to the 14" status.
